Yogi Berra died on September 22, 2015, at the age of 90. He was a great catcher and quite a character.

California economy is projected to grow
faster than U.S. through 2020
California's economic growth will continue to outpace the rest of the nation over the next five years, according to a new forecast, though the expansion is expected to slow after next year.
Despite recent turmoil in the financial markets and slowing growth in China, the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp.'s annual forecast predicted continued job growth and economic output in the state through 2020.

Workers pour tons of concrete for
Gerald Desmond Bridge project
Construction workers poured roughly 3,200 cubic yards of concrete during an overnight operation to set a pile cap for one of the two
Port of Long Beach officials reported Tuesday that dozens of workers and a series of concrete trucks were involved in the effort, which lasted from about 8 p.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Concrete Pours Begin On California Incline Bridge Project
Drivers on Pacific Coast Highway and throughout the Westside were urged to use caution Tuesday as the first of three concrete pours for the California Incline Bridge deck gets underway.
Crews began pumping more than 1,000 cubic yards of concrete to the deck portion of the bridge starting at 7 a.m., according to city officials. The pour was expected to last until approximately 3 p.m.

Santa Clara, California, rolled the dice in 2010 when it decided to build a $1.2 billion stadium for the San Francisco 49ers National Football League team, sparking outrage from local environmentalists and die-hard Niners fans unhappy about the team's games leaving town.
