Sacramento Kings say 98% of 
 Downtown Plaza scrap hasbeen recycled

The bulk of Downtown Plaza isn't really gone. It's just been recycled.

The Sacramento Kings said Thursday that they've been able to recycle 98 percent of the rubble that resulted when they tore down much of Downtown Plaza to make way for the new arena.

Yucca Loma Bridge receives first concrete pour
APPLE VALLEY - Cement trucks rolled along dirt roadways near the wooden rise of the Yucca Loma Bridge platform on Tuesday, as officials gathered to see and hear about a landmark event in the bridge's construction.A throng of trucks, to total 213 in the day-long effort, unloaded for the first concrete pour on one-third of the bridge's span.

3D printing looks set to become very important in architecture, but we've yet to see exactly how the future of large-scale click-and-print construction will play out. A potential step forward comes via a team of UC Berkeley researchers led by Associate Professor of Architecture Ronald Rael, who recently created a free-standing pavilion called Bloom to demonstrate the precision of their powder-based cement method of 3D-printed construction.

Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is a flowing concrete mixture that is able to consolidate under its own weight. The highly fluid nature of SCC makes it suitable for placing in difficult conditions and in sections with congested reinforcement.

A truck driver is driving along on the freeway when he sees a sign that reads "Low Bridge Ahead." Before he knows it, though, the bridge is right ahead of him, and his truck gets stuck-wedged in tight. Cars are backed up for miles.
