The concrete for the seating areas and suites at the new Sacramento arena is being poured now... in Woodland.

Inside Clark Pacific's Woodland plant, there's the "plop plop" of about a dozen people in orange safety vests and hard hats pouring and the "whoosh whoosh" of them  smoothing out concrete in metal forms that are between 30 and 38 feet long.  In eight hours, the forms will have cured and will be hauled away by a large crane to a storage facility.

California Enacts AB 1897 Which Means Greater Liability For Employers Who Use Labor Contractors

AB 1897 went into effect on January 1, 2015

On September 28, 2014, California Governor Jerry Brown announced the signing of Assembly Bill 1897, which amends California Labor Code section 2810 by creating a new Labor Code section 2810.3.

The new law targets businesses that obtain or are provided "workers to perform labor within its usual course of business from a labor contractor." The statute's definition of "labor contractor" excludes bona fide nonprofits, bona fide labor organizations, apprenticeship programs, hiring halls operated pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement, and motion picture payroll services companies.

I Don't Want to Go to School!

Early one morning, a mother went in to wake up her son.
"Wake up, son. It's time to go to school!"

"But why, Mom? I don't want to go." the son moaned.

"Give me two reasons why you don't want to go." Mom inquired.

"Well, the kids hate me for one, and the teachers hate me, too!"
said the son.

"Oh, that's no reason not to go to school. Come on now and get ready"
Mom stated.

"Give me two reasons why I should go to school." asked the son.

Jobsite Monitoring as You Know it
is About to Change. - Drones?

What if you could inspect the ongoing glazing installation on a high-rise tower without ever leaving the ground?
