WCA Accepting Applications to Serve on NACo's County Leadership Institute

The National Association of Counties (NACo) is offering its eleventh annual County Leadership Institute in Washington, DC, June 1-5, 2014.

The Institute will accept one participant from Wisconsin and WCA encourages county elected officials interested in attending to submit an application.

The 2014 County Leadership Institute addresses the challenges and directs the potential of local elected officials to forge positive, sustained change in their communities. Institute participants arrive on Sunday in time for an evening reception. Classroom presentations and exercises begin on Monday morning and end on Tuesday at noon. Evening activities include a gala reception and a business dinner with Institute sponsors. A brochure outlining the County Leadership Institute can be found here.

The curriculum provides a basis for the application of adaptive leadership as a strategy for addressing challenging issues in public service. It was developed by Marty Linsky, co-founder of Cambridge Leadership Associates and faculty at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, in collaboration with Dr. Ellen Schall, Dean, Robert F. Wagner School of Public Policy at New York University specifically for NACo. Mr. Linsky continues to direct the curriculum and advise the faculty, who are affiliated with Cambridge Leadership Associates.

To Apply

Completed applications must be received at the WCA office by February 3, 2014 to be considered.  WCA will pay the registration fee for the attendee, which covers program costs, airfare to and from Washington D.C., hotel for four nights, receptions, breakfasts and lunches. The attendee will be responsible for their own travel arrangements, including group transportation to and from the hotel, occasional meals and incidental expenses.
