Federal Court of Appeals Upholds Act 10 in Entirety
On Friday, January 18, 2013, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Act 10 in its entirety.  The Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) and our general counsel Phillips Borowski, S.C. is currently reviewing the ruling.

WCA Frac Sand Task Force Update
Late last year the Wisconsin Counties Association Board of Directors created a special task force addressing frac sand mining issues in Wisconsin.  The WCA Frac Sand Task Force is a presidential initiative of WCA President Gus Wirth.

Frac sand mining and processing operations have become more prevalent in Wisconsin in recent years.  Although frac sand mining and processing operations are not located in all parts of the state, they have become a significant presence in certain regions. The group has met several times since last fall.

The January 2013 edition of Wisconsin Counties magazine highlights broadband in Wisconsin.

 

Written by a variety of stakeholders, this collection of articles on broadband is a valuable layperson primer on the issues of implementing broadband in Wisconsin, including identifying key players, public and private investment and partnerships, basic terminology and economic development implications.

LGI Releases "Local Government Collaboration in Wisconsin: Case Studies"

The Local Government Institute of Wisconsin (LGI), comprised of the associations representing local government in Wisconsin - the League of Wisconsin Municipalities, the Wisconsin Counties Association, the Wisconsin Towns Association and the Urban Alliance, recently released the case studies in a report titled "Local Government Collaboration in Wisconsin: Case Studies." The document is a publication from a data base of case studies maintained on the group's website at www.localgovinstitute.org/casestudies. The on-line database includes actual agreements and other documents associated with many of the case studies.
