As many of you know, the last time Congress reformed the tax code the impact on the qualified plan system was devastating.  ASPPA recently announced a campaign called "Save My 401(k)" that will defend the 401(k) and other qualified plans is by by communicating to Congress.

We're leveraging the power and emotion of social media to raise awareness and action. The campaign's message is simple and clear: Go to www.savemy401k.com and use the automated system to send members of Congress an email that says, "Stay away from my 401(k)!" Again, the campaign's goal is to send Congress hundreds of thousands of emails as Congress begins the debate on tax reform.

Here's how you can assist in this campaign:
  1. Let's start with you and your colleagues at work.  Please ask them to visit www.savemy401k.com and have them email their members of Congress.  Also, please ask them to visit and "like" the SaveMy401k page on Facebook at www.facebook.com/SaveMy401k

  2. Deliver the Save My 401k message through your advisor/client network so they, in turn, can drive the message through their own networks and eventually to participants. As a starting point, below are some links to sample emails to advisors and clients you can use to enlist their support. Please customize them as you see fit.
    Suggested email to advisors
Suggested email for advisors/TPAs to send to their clients or other network
Suggested email to participants if you wish to contact them directly

  3. Also, check out the toolkit to help you further spread the word about Save My 401k. The toolkit includes, a flyer to include with participant statements, a signature block for your email, banner ads to put on your website and a link to the animation video promoting the campaign.
