Whether Home or Business: Be Sure to Have Two Ways Out

When fire strikes, your home or business could be engulfed in smoke and flames in just a few minutes

Fire escape planning

It is important to have a fire escape plan that prepares your family - or your employees at your business - to think fast and get out quickly when the smoke alarm sounds. What if your first escape route is blocked by smoke or flames? That's why having two ways out is such a key part of your plan.

The National Fire Association has published escape planning tips. If a fire breaks out in your home, you may have only a few minutes to get out safely once the smoke alarm sounds. Everyone needs to know what to do and where to go if there is a fire.

And, if you are an agent or adjustor, assure that your customers are ready if the unthinkable happens. It's all about protecting your family, your life and your business. Be prepared!

Do you know all you should about fire safety and what to do after a fire occurs?

See our Fast Facts on Fire Safety and Fire Damage Checklist to help protect your family, customers, home and business.

Your Home for Winter

Get Ready Before the Snow Falls

The Fall Equinox is the perfect time of year to start preparing your home for winter. The temperatures are beginning to dip and your home will require maintenance to keep it in tip-top shape until we once again enjoy warm, spring weather.

Heating costs also continue to consume an increasingly larger portion of your household's energy budget. That's why it's important to check your home to insure that your heating dollars aren't being wasted.

Prepare your home for winter with our Winter Readiness Checklist.
