Act now if you want to switch your health insurance for January 2016

Significant deadlines are quickly approaching for anyone interested in enrolling in or changing their medical insurance plan. For anyone who wants to make changes to their individual health insurance for 2016, with an effective date of January 1st 2016, should act soon. For Individual policyholders Tuesday, December 15th is the deadline for an January 1st 2016 effective date. I have been in contact with many of my clients since the beginning of the open enrollment period, which began November 1st.

It is especially important for policyholders of Assurant and those who have Individual PPO policies with Health Net to act quickly as their plans will be terminated at the end of December. Furthermore, current policyholders of Gold and Platinum plans might want to check their rates for 2016 since these plans have some significant increases.

For Seniors who want to make any changes to their medication drug plans or Medicare Advantage Plans, the Open Enrollment Period will end December 7th.

During this brief time period, small businesses will not be required to meet the general enrollment guideline of 70 % employee participation nor do they have to contribute 50 % towards their employees health insurance.
