The Open Enrollment Period for medical insurance starts this Sunday, November 1, 2015, and will end, January 31st, 2016. The overall rates for 2016 are very stable, so that I expect that fewer people will switch their health plans. However, those who currently have policies Assurant or individual Health Net plans must switch their health plans since those plans will no longer be available in 2016. 

Also, anyone whose health status has changed should take the opportunity to switch health plans during the open enrollment period as no medical underwriting is required.

Remember, if you want to have your new health plan effective by January 1st, 2016, you need to submit the application no later than December 15th,2015. However, to avoid the last minute administrative problems that we saw in the last years,-, I strongly recommend that you apply or renew your health plan  in the month of November. I am in the process of contacting each of my clients to discuss their best options for 2016. What you could do in the meantime are the following: 1) review your income for 2015/ 2016, 2) list your preferred doctors and hospitals,and 3) see whether you have any personal data changes such as a new address, adding or removing a family member, or email or telephone changes.
