What's new in the Health Insurance World?
Insurance Carriers have submitted their individual rates for 2016 to Covered CA

Having made their first experience with the 1095 tax form, many Californians have to pay back subsidies they received due to reporting incorrect income projections for 2014. Unfortunately Covered California has a glitch in their system which does not allow currently to adjust the income for 2015. They hope to have this problem fixed by July.

Insurance Carriers have submitted their proposed 2016 individual health policies to Covered California, and the negotiations have begun.The final statewide rates for 2016 should be announced in July. Many analysts are predicting bigger premiums. Insurers now have more detailed information on the medical costs of enrollees under the Affordable Care Act, and some federal programs that helped protect health plans from unpredictable claims will be winding down.

A gentle reminder,

We are currently in the Special Enrollment Period, so it is critical that you make sure that your health premium is paid. Remember that a lapsed health insurance policy due to non-payment is not a qualifying event to apply for health insurance.
