Today Covered California has announced the insurance participant in the California's State Exchange. Anthem, Blue Shield and Kaiser Permanente will be the participant. Meanwhile Cigna, Aetna and United Healthcare will not participate. Cigna announced in yesterday's LAHU University day that current policy holder will carry their plans to the End of December 2014, and they will sell their current plans to December 15 2013. This is welcome news as Cigna policy holders will have a choice to stay one more year on their current plans or switch into the exchange. For more detail read my blog

In June many Anthem clients will receive small credits in rate adjustments for the months of February through April. This is due to the fact that the CA insurance commissioner was able to intervene following Anthem's steep premium increase in February. For more details read my blog. Covered California, the state's health insurance exchange for California will spend $37 million in grants to begin the massive task of educating millions of Californians about the new healthcare law. Of the $37 million, $ 34 million are dedicated to the education of consumers and $3 million for small business. It is quite disappointing that Covered California does not see local insurance agent as instrumental partners in this marketing effort. For more details read my blog.
In July health insurance premiums will be rising, lock in your rates prior to June 15 so you still be able to receive the lower premium rates from Anthem, Cigna, Blue Shield, Kaiser and Aetna . click here for a quote
