Healthy Tips for Spring

Greetings!
These days we are all exposed to a lot of uncertainty. Over the weekend President Obama was forced to issue a sequestration order that included a $85 billion spending cut. This cut will also result in a 2 % reduction to Medicare reimbursement rates.
Hospitals nationwide are preparing for major cuts, which will result in hospital jobs. With the sequestrian order Cedar's Sinai Hospital is facing with the sequestration order a 9 million cut in Medicare Reimbursement. When and how fast these cuts will be effective is still undetermined.  So, wherever you look, there is  much uncertainty and many unresolved issues. However with a positive and healthy attitude, you can focus on the issues which you have the power to change and neglect the issues which are undetermined and out of your power of influence.

What's new in the health insurance industy in March

In February Californi's Insurance Commissioner Jones was able to reducethe rate increases imposed by  Anthem. The initial over- all- increase was almost 18 % and has now been reduced to 13.8%. However, as of today, it is not clear what the final premium increases for each plan will be. Anthem policy holders will either receive a refund check or a credit to their account for the rate reduction adjustment. It was hoped that the final rates would be ready by February, but as of March 5th the final premium are still undetermined according to the Anthem Support line. Because it is such a mess, many policy holders are fed up and evaluating whether to switch to other carriers. Cigna, which offers a 12- months rate guarantee and competitive rates ,has profited from Anthem's mismanagement in California.
Let's hope that the insurance commissioner also evaluates the rate increases for Blue Shield policy holders, whose older age policy holders and families werehit hard by the rate increase in March.
