Ramapo Supervisor Appointed to New State Panel on the
Tappan Zee Bridge

Ramapo Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence has been appointed by the New York State Thruway Authority to serve on a newly formed panel that is charged with studying ways to implement mass transit on a new Tappan Zee Bridge.

Supervisor St. Lawrence is one of only seven elected officials from Rockland County on the Mass Transit Task Force. The other Rockland elected officials that are serving on the new panel are County Executive Scott Vanderhoef, Senator David Carlucci, Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee, Legislative Chairwoman Harriet Cornell, Mayor Tish Dubow of South Nyack, and Mayor Jen White of Nyack.

The 29-member Mass Transit Task Force will have one year to pinpoint transit solutions for the replacement bridge and the I-287 corridor, develop funding strategies to implement and sustain transit operations, and generate a corridor management plan to make certain that there is a workable transit program.

"The construction of a new Tappan Zee Bridge is one of the most significant public works projects in the United States today," said Supervisor St. Lawrence. "Under the leadership of Governor Andrew Cuomo, the replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge has been brought to the forefront, and we are finally making considerable headway on a project that has been in the discussion stages for many years."

"This project is a major investment in our infrastructure, our economy, our county, and our future," continued St. Lawrence. "I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Mass Transit Task Force to ensure that the new Tappan Zee Bridge will have the mass transit components that our region desperately needs."
