Hurricane Sandy Update

Supervisor Declares State of Emergency

  

STATE OF EMERGENCY PROCLAMATION

TOWN OF RAMAPO

 

 
             WHEREAS, New York State Executive Law Section 24 empowers a Town Supervisor

to declare a "state of emergency" in the event of a public emergency within the territorial limits of the Town or in the event of reasonable apprehension of immediate danger, and

 

WHEREAS, Hurricane Sandy presents imminent danger to person and property

throughout the Town of Ramapo due to sustained high winds, flooding and related weather

conditions, and

 

WHEREAS, Hurricane Sandy is expected to cause widespread disruptions of utility

services and transportation

 

NOW THEREFORE I, CHRISTOPHER P. ST. LAWRENCE, SUPERVISOR OF THE

TOWN OF RAMAPO, hereby declare a state of emergency in the Town of Ramapo for a period of time beginning 6:00 p.m. October 28,2012 and continuing in effect for a period not to exceed five (5) days;

 

I hereby direct all department and agencies of the Town of Ramapo, to take whatever

steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure and provide such other

emergency assistance deemed necessary;

 

I further direct that this declaration be immediately distributed to local newspapers of

general circulation and transmitting to electronic media for publication.

 

       The following measures shall be in effect during the existence of the emergency:  abide by all road closures and obey the direction of the Town of Ramapo and emergency service personnel. 

 

       I reserve the right to impose any and all measures to implement said state of emergency.
