Public Forum ISBE Division of Special Education Services   -Tuesday, December 1 
Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 invites you to attend a public forum conducted by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), Division of Special Education Services.  Our District has been selected for a focused monitoring review regarding educational placement decisions for students with disabilities.  The ISBE team leader will explain the focused monitoring process about placement decisions and provide you an opportunity to share your comments.  The forum is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2015, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Board of Education Conference Room 119.   Information Letter

A Parent Guide to Student iPads   -Wednesday, December 2 
On Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the Little Theater, OLCHS will provide a one hour informational session for parents that will cover the basics of students' iPads. Some of the presentation topics will include popular apps and how to tell if they are educational or games, how to check if your student has homework, how to check if your student is completing their homework, and information about our web filter system.  The presentations will be presented by Dr. Jeana Lietz, Assistant Principal, Technology Coach Janet Meyers, and ESL teacher Mary Kerrigan.  There will be a bi-lingual room with translators available.  Parents are encouraged to bring their student (and their iPads) to the session, but it is not required.  For more information, please contact Dr. Jeana Lietz at (708) 741-5616 or jlietz@olchs.org.
