Senior Textbook Collection

Clear Debt

Seniors should follow the textbook collection schedule and return textbooks to the Little Theater by 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2015, to avoid being placed on the debt list.

Furthermore, the last opportunity before graduation for seniors to pay their outstanding debt will be Monday, May 18th, and Tuesday, May 19th, until 3:30 p.m. in the Business office.   Only cash, money order, or credit card payments are accepted, no personal checks.

Failure to pay debts by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, will place a hold on your diploma and transcripts.  Debts cannot be cleared at graduation practice or at the graduation ceremony.  After Tuesday, May 19th, seniors will have to wait until Thursday, May 21st, for the next opportunity to clear debts.

OLCHS Receives Funding for New Engineering Program

Students will have the opportunity to enroll in a new series of courses over the next three years, thanks to a generous grant by the Dart Foundation. Tuesday, Project Lead The Way (PLTW) announced that the school is the recipient of a $35,000 grant to implement the PLTW Engineering program. The program integrates science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts through hands-on, project-based learning, exposing students to real-world learning and preparing them for college and careers. PLTW is the nation's leading provider of STEM programs, with over 6,500 schools in the U.S. currently offering elementary, middle, or high school programs.

The $35,000 grant will be administered over a three-year period to support costs associated with beginning a new PLTW program, including teacher training, classroom equipment and supplies, and the annual program participation fee.

Physics teacher Christopher Repa and Industrial Technology teacher Dan Kenny under the program leadership of Division Chairperson David Johnson and Assistant Principal Jeana Lietz will lead the program. The program has about 50 students registered for 2015-16. <<read more>>
