Spartans Invaded Charleston, Illinois
|
The Journalism team was well represented at the IHSA State Journalism Tournament at Eastern Illinois University on Friday. The Journalism team qualified in eight categories after strong performances and a fourth place finish at the Columbia College IHSA Sectional in Chicago. The team was led by the efforts of sectional broadcast news champion Allison Templin and two event qualifier Fiona Agapito. Awesome individual performances by Jalisa Balboa, Sergio Serna, Fatima Akili, Andrew LaRusso, and Aleksandra Gronski qualified them for the state tournament competition. The Journalism team combines the talents of both the school newspaper the Spartanite and the yearbook Shield to compete against other Illinois high schools in journalistic events that are timed and then judged by a variety of professionals in the journalism field.
The Spartans left the state tournament with a wealth of experience and with Fiona Agapito earning a 5th place finish in editorial cartooning. Congratulations Fiona.

Senior Textbook Collection
|
Seniors should follow the textbook collection schedule and return textbooks to the Little Theater by 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2015, to avoid being placed on the debt list.
Furthermore, the last opportunity before graduation for seniors to pay their outstanding debt will be Monday, May 18th, and Tuesday, May 19th, until 3:30 p.m. in the Business office. Only cash, money order, or credit card payments are accepted, no personal checks.
Failure to pay debts by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, will place a hold on your diploma and transcripts. Debts cannot be cleared at graduation practice or at the graduation ceremony. After Tuesday, May 19th, seniors will have to wait until Thursday, May 21st, for the next opportunity to clear debts.
