Happy August everyone!

The MASWA Board of Directors met for their annual retreat on July 21, 2016 at Lake Minnetonka. It was a hot and humid day with the temperature index reaching 106 degrees. Several members opted to go on a cruise on the well known Lady of the Lakes. They had a great time, but all were roasting hot when they got off of the boat. They joined the rest of us across the street from the lake in a wonderful air-conditioned retreat house. This retreat's main goal was to allow the new board members to get to know the returning board members and also to become acquainted with the bylaws and job descriptions. It was a very successful retreat on all counts, and we can now move forward with planning for events, education, and charitable donations.

A huge part of the success of the board will depend on all of you. We look forward to your recommendations and suggestions for programming and donations. I'll thank you all in advance for your participation in this process.

The next big event on the horizon is the Fall Aging Conference on October 27, 2016. Registration will be online this year, making the process much easier for all of us. Be sure to set that date aside for a great day of speakers and lots of food. No one will leave hungry or uninformed!

If you are going to vend at the Fall Aging Conference, go to the website for the Fall Aging Conference. All vending opportunities can be accessed online this year, making this a smooth registration opportunity. I always look forward to visiting with the vendors and renewing friendships at this conference. It is a great day!

I will look forward to seeing all of you at the August membership meeting on August 25, 2016 at 2:30 pm at our usual meeting place, Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley.

Enjoy this last month of summer!
