PRESIDENT'S MONTHLY NOTE

Beth Nemec

I hope this finds you warm, secure and happily anticipating everything 2014 has in store for you. In 2014 your MASWA board is busy working on some of our annual events. The Fall Aging Conference committee is passing the baton - Jenelle Boeckermann the 2013 chair is passing to Allison Bakke. They are working on securing speakers and a theme/topic for our annual conference which is held in October. Linda Debner is also taking her place as the chair in training for the 2015 FAC. The members at large committee (Linda, Maureen Albrecht and Sue Wadsten) are starting to secure speakers for our Spring Luncheon. The public policy committee chair (Kathy Manning) is looking for topics and speakers for our joint event in June. Our membership chair (Cheri Nispel) is anticipating a busy month with annual renewals - January/February being our busiest months. Communications (Tanya Castillo) is busy with updating our information on our website and making sure that the information is up to date and accurate for our members. Our programs chair (Vicky Wilcox) is confirming our speakers for the year and Education (Jenny Kasbohm) has just secured our CEU certificate so that we can continue to provide this to our members. Nominations (Michelle Larson) is anticipating and filling our open board positions. Our treasurer (Paul Blom) is securing our budget and assuring us we are financially sound and our secretary (Michelle Land) is keeping our records up to date and confirming that we have a place to meet each month! I am looking at the things that we committed to this past summer at our board retreat and will continue to work with our website and our written and financial infrastructure to make sure we continue to be a solid, well maintained organization. I want to take this time to thank our 100% volunteer board, and the organizations they represent, for their commitment of time and talent that allows MASWA to thrive. If there are any ideas, issues or concerns that you have or would like to see in 2014 please let me or one of our board members know. Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Beth Nemec
President
