PRESIDENT'S MONTHLY NOTE | |
I hope this letter finds you transitioning from summer into fall. When I start to grieve the absence of longer summer days and 80 degree (plus) weather, I look forward to sweatshirts, apples and the leaves turning colors. In MASWA we are preparing for 2014 - the program committee is looking for speakers and sponsors and the Members at Large committee will begin to plan for next May's Spring Luncheon. We are also working on our written and financial infrastructure within our organization and making our website more user friendly and value added for our members.
We have two new board members to welcome to MASWA: Tanya Castillo has been approved as the communications chair. Tanya is the Business Manager at Legacy Home Care and has over 16 years in the senior industry. She also has experience with hospice, private duty and Medicare certified home care. Cathy Manning has also been approved as the MASWA chair for the Joint Public Policy Committee and is an independent Life SAGEr trained and certified by Celebrations of Life. Cathy has her own business Legacy OnWords - capturing the essence of who you are. When you see them at the membership meeting - make sure to greet them and bring forward any ideas or issues that you have pertaining to communications and public policy.
We are also very excited for the 2013, 39th Annual Fall Aging Conference! The committee works very hard throughout the entire year planning for this well organized and attended event. For many of us it is like a reunion where for one day, we all get together to learn, re-connect with peers and hopefully connect with some new contacts in the senior industry. I hope you will be able to join us on October 24th! Thank you to the entire committee for your commitment of time and talent - special thanks go to the MASWA Fall Aging Committee members: Janelle Boeckermann (Chair); Paul Blom (Treasurer); Linda Debner (Brochure); Allison Bakke (2014 Chair) - you represent us well!
Sincerely,
Beth Nemec President |
