BREWSTER DAY CAMP          Newsletter    August 8, 2016        Vol. 35 Issue 17

Greetings Brewster Day Camp!

BDC campers embody all three dictionary definitions for the word TENACITY: 1.)"The quality of...holding fast; persistence;" This past week, we had our first camper of the summer UBER AHAA. This is an honorable level of achievement, meaning the campers mastered all three levels of each activity available at camp. 2.) "The quality of retaining something;" Many campers learned the challenging butterfly stroke this week in the pool, which requires much determination and endurance. 3.) "The quality or property of holding together firmly;" While camp will come to a close next week, campers will hold tight to their friendships and memories which they will cherish all winter and beyond!

Last Friday's Olympic Day tested camper's mental and physical TENACITY, as they competed in various athletic events, including the triathlon, 100 meter dash, minefield, and more! As we enter Week #7, I look forward to observing more moments like those aforementioned that exemplify so campers' TENACITY.

Next Friday is CARNIVAL DAY. During the morning, BDC transforms itself into a traditional carnival with stations including face paint, haunted house, dunk tank, sponge toss, water balloon toss, and more! This wonderful event is create by campers, for campers and the adults support them in their efforts to create fun for each other.

Memories, trial and error learning experiences, and learned lessons shape our TENACITY at BDC and beyond. Encourage your camper (or anyone!) to built and hold on to their TENACITY, as this is one key to realizing one's dreams.
