BREWSTER DAY CAMP          Newsletter    June 27, 2016        Vol. 35 Issue 9

Hello Brewster Day Camp!

I am excited to report that our returning and new staff has arrived to camp from respective winter locations and is THRIVING in our summer environment! Over the past two weeks, Brewster Day Camp's work crew and training week has prepared for our best summer yet; the 35th season!

To THRIVE means to grow or develop vigorously; to flourish. BDC is a place where campers and counselors, alike, feel safe to take risks, break barriers, attempt new things, discover hidden talents, display skills, and simply...THRIVE! I am eager to be a part of this magic for WEEK 1 of camp!

Over the past two weeks, I have enjoyed being a part of this pre-camp magic for training week and work crew. New staff THRIVED in developing confidence; they transformed their vocabulary from "I will be a counselor to I AM a counselor." Staff THRIVED in discovering superhuman strength; they planted a tree, built a new fence, transported sand, sifted gravel, and renovated the welcome walk. Lastly, and arguably most importantly, staff THRIVED in resurfacing their inner-campiness; they sang, danced, and laughed together!

I encourage everyone to grow, develop, and flourish, whether you face your worst fear, check something off your "bucket list", or simply take time for yourself. How will you THRIVE this summer?
