BREWSTER DAY CAMP Newsletter February 1, 2016 Vol. 31 Issue 5
|

Hello Brewster Day Camp! At camp, we are very proud of our collaborative, robust, and flexible leadership style. Our BDC LEADERSHIP Team collectively shares its successes and its bumps in the road. As a group, we are 'stronger together' to piggy-back on the motto of the Massachusetts Camping Association ( here) which is our state's camping industry organizational LEADER (see images of MCA event below.) I am exuberantly proud of our BDC Leadership Team this summer because of its depth, experience, and BDC longevity. Reaching deep into the education, management, counseling, coaching, and creativity fields, I am confident that as a group our LEADERSHIP Team can solve any challenge presented to us - World Peace - yeah, we're working on it! We teach peace every day at BDC and that does make a difference everywhere. No matter where you find yourself this summer, please join us at 3570 Main Street in any way that you are able! Mark your calendar for Friday evening, July 1st from 5pm-8pm when our community of present and past campers, families, and staff are welcome to come back to camp for an Evening of Camp Celebrating BDC's 35th Season! Look for more details in future newsletters. Please join me in LEADING us all into BDC'16 with...

BDC LEADERSHIP at the STATEHOUSE
BDC On Campus Program Director, Scott Rizzo and Camp Director, Milisa Galazzi, (both pictured right) joined camp leaders from across the state at the Massachusetts Statehouse last week. The event honored Dan Wolf, our Senator from Cape Cod, who, along with many volunteers from the Massachusetts Camping Association joined forces this year with advocates to pass 'camp friendly' minimum wage legislation.
Other exciting events that day at the statehouse included Senator Wolf's LEADERSHIP on passing the first step of a bill for Equal Pay for Woman in Massachusetts - which is the first state to do so!
In his words, "The Senate today is taking a huge step not only for women, but also for men who believe in fairness and equity at the workplace for all the citizens of the commonwealth," said Wolf. "This bill gives us all tools to use to do a deep dive, examine our souls, our hearts, our minds, our wallets, our balance sheets, and our profit and loss statements to make sure that the values that we embody here in this chamber are expressed in the behavior through our economy."
THANK YOU, Senator Dan Wolf for your LEADERSHIP representing Cape Cod and the Islands in making affordable and fair wages for all an important part of your work.
Side note: Dan Wolf raised his three (now adult) children at The Family School and Brewster Day Camp! What an honor for all of us to join you in celebrating your LEADERSHIP!
