ANIMAL FIND of the WEEK: BDC's own Camper Leaders, who shipped out from Provincetown this past Friday to embark on a Whale Watch trip, came across this delightfully PLAYFUL Humpback Whale. Did you know? Whales sleep differently than humans.  They are always aware of their need for oxygen, so they only fall asleep with half of their brains. (photo credit: Taryn vanEsselstyn)
Sometimes a PLAYFUL moment with a friend turns a good day into a magnificent day!

LATE MORNING DROP OFF

If you arrive at camp after 9:00 a.m., you must stop by the camp office to check your child into camp. This is a safety issue because we take attendance at Morning Assembly which ends at 9:00a.m. Please help us keep your camper SAFE this summer, by checking in at the office if you arrive after 9:00 a.m. Thanks!

Dear BDC campers and families,

Many summer greetings to you all!  As I type this letter, we are putting the finishing touches on our beloved BDC OLYMPIC DAY! Olympic Day brings out a singularly PLAYFUL side in all of us. Campers, from our youngest to our oldest, mix and match to participate in events dedicated to the PLAYFUL spirit of friendly competition, good sportsmanship, and unity.

As I sit I can hear the exuberant sounds of PLAYFUL campers and staff. Campers shouting encouragement as their peers take part in the inner-tube relay races in the pool, long jump into the sand box, and so much more!

Everywhere, I see counselors using their own spirit of PLAYFULNESS to encourage campers to do their best and work to reach their goals -- whether they be a live PLAYer's Performance at STAR (Songs, Theater, and Rhythm), completing a piece of Art, a shooting a bulls-eye at Archery, achieving a goal down at MUGS, nailing a dive in the pool, or making a connection and PLAYING with a new friend.

As I look forward to this upcoming BDC Week #7, I hope that you will join us as we bask in the fruits of summer, joy, sunshine, and a PLAYFUL spirit. And along with that, I also wish you a week filled with a bright PLAYFUL energy and tons and tons of...

Congratulations to Cuba, the winners of Olympic Day, for their PLAYFUL enthusiasm and good sportsmanship throughout the day's competitive events.

Campers down at Little Cliff Pond this week enjoyed an opportunity to cool off and enjoy a PLAYFUL afternoon with their counselors. Love to see all these cheerful faces!
NEW P.M. PICK-UP TIME WEEKS #5-8

Pick-up time is now expanded in the afternoons at BDC for the next three weeks. If you are able and interested, you may now pick up your camper beginning as early as 4:00p.m. for this summer only. By extending the pick-up time to one hour (from 4:00-5:00p.m.) the parking lot congestion is alleviate while the church is under construction next door.

Field Sports Head, Will Mason, takes a moment to engage in a teachable moment with some fascinated campers who were eager to make some lovely camp music!

Campers in our Young Children's Program participated in a Swim Meet on Tuesday morning.  Thank you so much to all who attended, and joyous PLAYFUL time was had by all!
NEW THIS SUMMER!

Due to the ongoing construction of our neighbor, the Bible Alliance Church, the parking lot of the church is unavailable to families this summer. Join us as we meet this new challenge and continue to make our parking lot a safe place!

Here are some changes at BDC due to lack of parking:

1. BDC families may only use our parking lot for daily camper drop off and pick ups. Please use the
Hello&Go in the morning as often as you can for quick drop offs.

2. Please follow the directions of the BDC Parking Lot Attendants in the orange vests who skillfully direct all cars.

3. Any Camp Office business which can be conducted on the phone or in person between the hours of 10a.m. and 3p.m. is greatly appreciated!

4. Parking for Family Swim will begin at 5:00 in our parking lot.

5. End of the day popcorn sales are suspended this season. However, popcorn will be offered as a special snack on occasion and sold during the Final Camp Picnic in order to continue to raise money for BDC Camperships.

We will periodically update you with how this is all going! Thanks for your understanding as BDC continues to be a good neighbor!

Campers and counselors, alike, enjoy a moment of playfulness!

Buddy Activities are a PLAYFUL addition to the camp week!
