Nurturing and Challenging Children and Families with Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace since 1981!

For info about BDC, go here.

Pick-up time is now being expanded in the afternoons at BDC for the next four weeks. If you are able and interested, you may now pick up your camper beginning as early as 4:00p.m. for this summer only. We hope that by extending the pick-up time to one hour from 4:00-5:00p.m. will alleviate some of the congestion in our lot due to the construction next door.
BDC's 1st ever Surf School was a rousing success. Campers and counselors reported that the "instructors were fantastic, the waves were perfect, and every camper got up on their boards!" Success!

BDC loves to dive into the COMMUNITY!

"Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success."

Our STAR Head, Laura, and her thriving creative COMMUNITY were busy, busy, busy getting ready for our Talent Show this past Thursday.  What a night!

Taking a break from their Choice Activity, these Admirals Hill girls show us a quick snapshot of their COMMUNITY spirit.

We at BDC are very proud of our new Sunfish sails!  Our Sailing School, located at Big Cliff Pond in Nickerson State Park, is a huge part of the park COMMUNITY! Visit the BDC Office for more information about our Sailing School.
Our youngest Mariners Hill campers are perfecting their Archery techniques!

Hello BDC Family and Friends!

Community is said to be the link that holds the world together. As we enter into Week 5 of BDC '15, we are more than halfway through another amazing summer!
Though I much prefer to live in the moment, I have to confess that as the summer progresses I find myself retrospective, from time to time, even as I look eagerly forward to all the excitement BDC '15 still holds for our COMMUNITY.

As I stand in the deep end of summer -- with as much before as behind me -- I look around at our Brewster Day Camp COMMUNITY, and I am amazed at the link we share, both with each other and with the larger Cape Cod COMMUNITY.
Did you know? Our campers come to us from twenty-seven states and nine different countries. Every summer, I have the pleasure of seeing so many return -- drawn back together by the pull of this COMMUNITY. Campers. Counselors. Those who live on Cape Cod, just across the bridge, or across the world. We rekindle friendships and we share sun-soaked smiles. Squeals of delight echo across the campus as we reconnect to our COMMUNITY.

As we head full throttle into Week 5, we are taking COMMUNITY to another level: Beach trips; Gazebo hops; Surf Lessons; Track meets, Swim meets...so much BDC COMMUNITY on-campus and off!

Stop for a moment, if you will, and enjoy this week's eWaves. Enjoy the community we create, and the community we share.
From our COMMUNITY to yours, we offer you great adventurous heaps of...

If you arrive at camp after 9:00 a.m., you must stop by the camp office to check your child in to camp. This is a safety issue because we take attendance at Morning Assembly which ends at 9:00a.m. Please help us keep your camper SAFE this summer, by checking in at the office if you arrive after 9:00 a.m.

On Wednesday morning, our BDC swimmers traveled to Wychmere Harbor Beach Club to participate in a swim meet against the Wychmere Waves.  Congratulations BDC swimmers!

"Oh the places to go!  There is fun to be done!"

Campers and counselors alike had an incredible time at the COMMUNITY herb garden, just down the road!

This camper is focused and engaged in his COMMUNITY of campers down at BASE.  Working together to build skills is a key component of a successful COMMUNITY.

Due to the ongoing construction of our neighbor, the Bible alliance Church, the parking lot of the church is unavailable to families this summer. Join us as we meet this new challenge and continue to make our parking lot a safe place!

Here are some changes at BDC due to lack of parking:

1. BDC families may only use our parking lot for daily camper drop off and pick ups. Please use the Hello&Go in the morning as often as you can for quick drop offs.
2. Please follow the directions of the BDC Parkig Lot Attendants in the orange vests who skillfully direct all cars.
3. Any Camp Office business which can be conducted on the phone or in person between the hours od 10a.m. and 3p.m. is greatly appreciated!
4. Parking for Family Swim will begin at 5:00 in our parking lot.
5. End of the day popcorn sales are suspended this season. However, popcorn will be offered as a special snack on occasion and sold during the Final Camp Picnic in order to continue to raise money for BDC Camperships.

We will periodically update you with how this is all going! Thanks for your understanding as BDC continues to be a good neighbor!

Mariners Hill campers are loving life in the Art Tent this week!  When I asked what they were creating, one boy responded, "We color our picture, and then we paint over it with buttermilk...but you only paint with buttermilk. You DO NOT drink it!"  Sounds like an excellent tip!

Every THURSDAY afternoon, Sailors & Admirals Hill campers may spend their first choice period having a semi-private golf lesson.

Lessons are offered at the Captain's Golf Course in Brewster, for $45 per week.  Add the lesson by contacting the Camp Office.

BDC's Art Head is looking for old nature, National Geographic, and Glamour magazines. Please drop them off at the camp office.
At our Mid-Summer Staff Meeting, our Brewster Day Camp directors work hard to keep our COMMUNITY full of Courage, Hope, Good Spirit, & Peace.
