When encouraging adults create a safe place for children to push the edges of their comfort zone, CONFIDENCE grows in both people!

Many groups are at capacity and are already closed during some camp weeks. We are working hard to accommodate all enrollments.

If you are still planning on being at BDC this summer and you have yet to enroll, please be in touch ASAP! We will do everything we can to help you find a spot at this late date!

Our youngest campers enjoy moments of growing CONFIDENCE like these toddlers who are playing a bean-bag game on the "big kid" ball field!

....a BDC drum roll please....

Here (in no particular order) is our CONFIDENT Tent Counseling Staff - many of whom are returning from last summer's fabulous staff or were campers/camper Leaders at BDC a few years ago! (See Key below for details.) WELCOME (back) one and ALL!

"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage."

~ Dale Carnegie

New Tent Counselor and past BDC camper/camper leader, Kiegan Lennihan, CONFIDENTLY throws the javelin farther than almost anyone in the country! Next year he will differ his college acceptance to Duke University in order to train internationally with the best of the best - hopefully earning a spot for himself on the next Summer Olympic Team. GO Kiegan! BDC CONFIDENTLY supports you now and always!!

BDC '15 Sailors Hill Head, Kelly Catano, also CONFIDENTLY ran the Boston Marathon. Kelly took a few days off from her teaching job in the warm south to flew to Boston to join in the cold New England fun!

CONFIDENCE grows exponentially with the unconditional support of family and friends. Both Kelly and her Dad ran the Boston Marathon this year - her first and his seventh. Father and daughter runners have trained together since Kelly was a young teenager. How supportive is that?!

Hello BDC Family and Friends,

Happy May Day! The sun is shining and the flowering trees are blooming in Southern New England. We made it through the brutal Winter of 2015 and I feel pretty CONFIDENT about that!

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the fine line between CONFIDENT and arrogant. CONFIDENCE means "belief in oneself" while arrogance means, "having or showing confidence in a way that is annoying to other people." Confidence is a noun - a "thing" that one possesses at times, or nurtures and grows in oneself when that "thing" is lacking. Arrogance - at it's core - seems to be born out of insecurity or a dearth of real CONFIDENCE.

So how and where does one grow more real, authentic, CONFIDENCE?

Camp, of course, is one place where real CONFIDENCE grows like a weed! At BDC, campers and counselors support one another to set goals and support each other to face the fear of possible failure and then they go do it anyway! Parents breed CONFIDENCE in their children by supporting their dreams and fanning the flames of their passion and desires.

The CONFIDENCE which we breed at camp can also be described by these words: aplomb, assurance, backbone, boldness, certainty, courage, daring, dash, determination, fearlessness, firmness, fortitude, grit, heart, mettle, morale, pluck, poise, reliance, resoluteness, self reliance, spirit, spunk, sureness, tenacity!

This eWaves is dedicated to the BDC folks who have and will continue to set personal goals and strive to grow real CONFIDENCE through their work and play. Let me know if you are striving for something which could benefit from the support of the BDC Family. I am sending lots of CONFIDENCE your way as well as...

At BDC, tent groups become a second family where kids CONFIDENTLY build a network of shared experiences. We all need a posse behind us in order to be successful. Who makes up yours?

At BDC, we create an "epidemic of empathy" and the symptom of that "condition" is sharing growing self CONFIDENCE!
"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face...we must do that which we think we cannot."

~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Even if you are not at BDC, you can share your CONFIDENCE with all those around you - wherever you may be this summer!

At the half way point in last month's very cold and rainy Boston Marathon, this summer's BDC program staff member, Sophie Olmsted (in the white shirt) caught a glimpse of her ever supportive Mom and Dad and  CONFIDENTLY ran by!

...and this is what a CONFIDENT marathon finisher looks like! Thanks for sharing your joy, Sophie O!

If ever a photo screamed the word CONFIDENT - this one is it! See you soon on Cape Cod. We will be ready!!!

Wishing you and your family...
Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace!
