Hello BDC Family and Friends,
Have you ever played a COLOR Game in your head? I have...
Each of the thirty-nine days of camp, I stand at the BDC Welcome Walk, from 8:00-9:00AM in the morning, and from 4:00-5:00 in the evening. Perched on the small hill near the Camp Office where everyone travels by to enter or leave camp, I greet families, talk with campers, and answer questions. I specifically make myself available during these two very important hours because it is when our families are most in transition.
Sometimes there is a lull in the coming and going and that is when I play my version of a COLOR Game. Here's how it works: When it's quiet for a moment, I quickly close my eyes and choose a color in my mind. When I open my eyes, I rapidly scan camp to see how many times - and in what places - I can spot that particular color. This is one way for me to remain fully present in the moment, and take in all that is BDC in the summer months.
During this month of transition from fall into early winter, with the holiday season creeping up on us, I encourage us all to take moments during the hustle and bustle - to pause and reflect - on all that is swirling around. I am amazed at how quieting this little act becomes. If you live in a cooler fall climate - like New England - take the time to enjoy the last of the fall COLORS. If you live in another climate, find some other bright COLORS to enjoy as life gets busy around you.
I am wishing you all of the COLORS of the season as well as...
CHGS+P!

PS. BDC is now showing our COLORS all winter long via our HOWLS program. If you are vacationing on Cape Cod, consider adding a HOWLS Day to your plans. November 11th is our next HOWLS trip to Provincetown - details here. We also have HOWLS Adventures planned during Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks. Even under water there are COLORS - mostly a lot of blue!
