BDC Reminders
For Enrolled Campers

We hope that you have received your official BDC
Welcome Packet in the mail with all of the information that you and your camper need to make a smooth transition to BDC. If you have any questions, please call us at 888-396-2267 until June 3rd and at 508-896-6555 beginning June 9th.

The state of MA requires that a recent immunization record and medical form, be on-file with BDC, prior to your camper's first day. Please submit this paperwork by email, snail mail or fax (508-896-2044).

Please order Smart Lunches directly from their website by going to www.smartlunches.com if you would like to take advantage of fresh lunches delivered to your child at camp.

Since we are talking about lunch...this summer, we kindly ask that campers refrain from having Tent Group Pot Lucks at camp. Special birthday snacks are fine. Please contact the Camp Office for more info. before sending in special birthday snacks. Thanks!

The FOUNDATION of a relationship between campers and counselors begins from the very first time you step onto the BDC campus. Tent Counselors go through a week long training program to learn how to make each camper feel welcome and safe at BDC. This thoughtful training allows for unique and lasting friendships to form throughout the summer making for a happy staff and very happy campers!

Based on age, each camper is assigned to either Mariners Hill, Sailors Hill or Admirals Hill. Each Hill has its own assembly area where campers gather each morning and afternoon to start and end the day. These assemblies are a wonderful FOUNDATION to the camp day that provides time for singing songs, telling jokes,  competing in spirit chants with the other hills, and more!

The BDC Camper Necklaces serve as an excellent FOUNDATION upon which Courage, Hope, Good Spirit, Peace is built. Campers earn a bead from each activity by demonstrating these four values with their tent groups. This necklace grows throughout the season, and creates a fun way to remember camp all year long.
Hello BDC Family and Friends,

This month as the school year comes to an end, college students return home, and spring blooms into summer, a brand new season prepares to lay its FOUNDATION. While the spring rain has seeped into the ground to prepare the plants for the hot summer sun, the BDC 2014 staff returns to Cape Cod from near and far in anticipation of the start of camp. As cold and wet this winter and spring may have been, we can now enjoy the fruitful FOUNDATION the earth has created that will provide for a summer full of life!

The Winter Office has been working hard all year to ensure the Summer Office has a sturdy FOUNDATION. We will be officially open at 3570 Main St. starting June 9th. Come join us in the fun this summer! We are so excited to see you - whether you are a longtime member of the BDC Family or you are joining us for the first time this summer!

We are await your arrival on the BDC Welcome Walk! As always, I am wishing you...

Week #1 Reminder...

During Week #1 (June 23-27th) we are ready to welcome your family with all the usual fanfare. For those of you who are still in school, please join us in any way, shape, or form that feels comfortable to you and your family! Flexibility is the name of the game Week #1... Please reach out to the BDC Office if you would like to discuss your plans.

A huge THANK YOU to Chris Galazzi, Adam Pettengill, and Paul Prisco, for building a sturdy FOUNDATION for our brand new WOW Yurt! Be sure to check out this new, exciting camp addition in the back field, in addition to an expanded archery range, and new Big Top behind the pool.

BDC has been the FOUNDATION for many lifelong friendships throughout the years. Each season, campers and staff return to Cape Cod from all parts of the globe to celebrate summer together. Come make a friend this summer! we are waiting for you...

On June 9th, the BDC Work Crew will spend a week preparing the FOUNDATION of camp which includes but is not limited to: setting up the tents, taking the boats out of deep storage, repainting the benches and hosing down the plastic crates (like the not so sturdy one you see above) that serve as campers' cubbies. This job is not for the faint of heart and sometimes includes replacing the old with the new to create a lasting FOUNDATION for the summer.

REMINDER: TWO community events on Cape Cod are being organized to honor Sam Grad, past BDC counselor and a mentor to many:

THIS MONTH: Saturday, June 21st - Relay for Life. Join Sam's Squad at the Dennis, Mass. Relay for Life event where teams of people gather together for 24 hours to remember loved ones. There is music, food, and an incredible amount of great energy. The event will begin at 10am on June 21st at the Dennis-Yarmouth High School and will end around 9am the next day. Many people camp out overnight. Sam's Squad organizer and Sailors Hill Head, Lindsay Law, would love to see a huge part of the BDC Family there even if it was just for an hour or so. Any support would be amazing! This event will give us a chance to honor someone who truly impacted each and every one of us in a special way. More details to come as the event approaches. For more information click here

COMING SOON: Thursday, July 3rd - BDC Memorial Seating Area: Many donors in addition to a large gift from an anonymous member of the BDC Family have come together to create a Memorial Seating Area on our campus to honor Sam as well as others who have impacted our community. We will dedicate this new space at 5:30pm on Thursday, July 3rd with a small ceremony in his honor. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome! More details to follow.
