This photo is screaming TA-DAAAA! Need we say more?!

...and sometimes the fleeting moments are best spent just chillin'.

During Carnival Day last week, campers and counselors enjoyed TA-DAAAA moments of silliness like this one with BDC's very own, Trusty the Clown!

Wompanoag Day '13

This Thursday, BDC will celebrate Wompanoag Day at camp. During the morning, all of the camp clocks will be removed. Like the native people who lived on this land before us, on this day we teach children by taking away the pressure and constraints of time. On Wompanoag Day at BDC "the time it takes is the time it takes." This Thursday, campers will move freely from one activity to the to the next enjoying each moment to its fullest!
LAST DAY of BDC '13
*****THIS Friday,August 16*****

The Final Picnic and Council Fire is THIS Friday evening from 5:00-7:30pm for all age campers and their families.

The Plan:
5:00  Final Swim and Family Picnic on the Hill (NOT pot-luck)
6:00  Camper/Staff Parade
6:15 Council Fire on the MUGS Field to sing songs, recognize our achievement, and say good-bye for the summer. We will be finished by approximately 7:15pm.

VERY
IMPORTANT: Every camper must be accompanied by an adult by 5:00 when the camp day ends. Our staff is unable to be with individual campers who are left after 5:00pm.

This spunky camper won the Sportsmanship Award at the invitational sailing regatta last week. Amanda Keshian, BDC's Head Sailing Instructor, looks as proud and as happy as her sailor. Now that's a TA-DAAA moment for everyone!
ANIMAL FIND of the WEEK: These frogs look ready to be released back into the wild so that they can have their own TA-DAAAA moment.
Even our youngest campers can enjoy TA-DAAAA moments like this one.

Hello BDC Family and Friends,

TA-DAAAA......We have exactly five days left to BDC '13! That's approximately 45 hours to relish in the joy, achievement, merriment, and all of the other wonderful things that we have created together at 3570 Main Street this summer.

If you are just beginning your stay with us this week at camp, WELCOME! Get ready for an amazing few days. You are joining us just in time. This season will surely be remembered by many as one of the most magical of BDC summers.

No matter where you are or what you are doing, I ask you: What is your fondest TA-DAAAA moment this summer? Now is the time to take stock. Time is fleeting!

I am sharing TA-DAAAA moments with you and boat loads of...

One more week left! This realization is both bitter and sweet...

A confident relaxed smile says everything that you need to know about how camp is going this summer - excellent in so many ways!

Our BDC Camper Leaders (pictured above) just arriving back from the waterfront, are so proud of our camp and their work that they invitedto BDC junior counselors from the local girl scout camp to see BDC in action. This was such a nice TA-DAAA moment, the BDC CLs were then invited to visit their camp too!
Moments of togetherness are the focus of camp in the remaining hours of BDC 2013. What's your favorite summer memory?

"Time doesn't move hour to hour, but mood to moment.  We live by the currents, plan by the tide, and follow the sun.

~Unknown

Do these wonderful BDC counselors look like they have been working hard for seven straight weeks? At BDC, we make working hard look like: TA-DAAA!
NEW TO BDC - Welcome!
Here Are General BDC Reminders:

- Not sure what the Camper Expectations are at BDC? Go here to read BDC '13 Campers' Guide.

- Remember to pack a HUGE lunch with lots of healthy snacks. Campers burn nearly twice the amount of calories while playing at camp than they do sitting at a desk in school.

*SMARTLUNCHES: If you wish to purchase a pre-made lunch for your camper, please do it one week in advance by going to the SmartLunches website here.

- Prepare for all types of weather! If the weather is iffy, please send a rain coat! Even as we move to dry locations, ALL of our campers are encouraged to have the appropriate clothing.
BDC PARKING LOT REMINDERS

Thank you in advance for keeping our busy parking lot safe for children and families.

- If your  child is old enough to use the Hello and Go in the mornings, we encourage you to do so for easy drop offs between 8-8:45am!

- Please drive slowly! Even when the parking lot is empty.

- Always follow the directions of the BDC Parking Attendants wearing orange vests.

- Put away your cell phone so that your full attention is on driving and parking. We are a cell phone limited campus.

- Use the white shelled Safe Path (through the trees) to stay away from cars near the BDC Office if you have parked in the lower parking lot near our Exit.

- Turn off your car when you go to get your campers - even if it is hot. The fumes from the exhaust are unhealthy for those nearby.

- While in the parking lot, children should remain with you at all times.

-  We are a smoke free campus. Please refrain from smoking in your car while in our lot.

THANK YOU!

Wishing you and your family...

Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace!
