happy boys
Leaning on a friend's shoulder can be a wonderful and RE-FRESHing way to say - without words: "I like you!" Where else - besides at camp - can this sort of communication not only be acceptable, but encouraged?!   What new ways this year can you show someone that you like and care about them?

flower power
At camp, we provide kids with an opportunity to think about themselves in new ways...even if it's just for a few seconds...how fun is it to actually be a RE-FRESHingly bright flower for just a moment!
                               SAFETY at BDC

Please join the BDC community in sending our collective Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace to all of the families effected by the resent violence in Connecticut.

As we do each winter, our administrative team extensively reviews all of our safety protocols at camp. We join you in our desire to ensure that all children are safe while at camp. If you have any questions about safety at BDC, please call our office. We are happy to talk to you about this issue.

Hello BDC Family and Friends,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I hope that BDC is one of the first to wish you a safe and wonderful 2013. If you are reading this in the wee hours of New Years' Eve, please safely enjoy the rest of your evening! Consider going to bed soon so that you can RE-FRESH yourself with a good night's sleep and be ready to start what is sure to be an exciting next twelve months!

The first day of any month is an opportunity for a new beginning and of course, January 1st is particularly special in this regard. On New Year's Day, I like to enjoy a brisk walk on a beach taking stock of where I have been this past year and think about where I am headed both personally, professionally, and in my relationships. Each year we have a uniquely cyclical opportunity to reinvent ourselves.

Just as one might RE-FRESH a computer to re-boot the hard drive, the start of the year is an opportunity to begin again doing things slightly differently. Instead of creating New Year's resolutions (which I find difficult to sustain past mid-month, let alone all year) I think about what are the things which I want to tweak, renew, reconsider, reset, restart, restore, or RE-FRESH. In short, how will I make this year even more special than last?

To this end, BDC'13 planing is well under way. As we do each winter, we work hard to RE-FRESH our program making small changes with the goal of bringing a richer experience to you and your family. In the coming weeks, look for a special email survey in your inbox... We want to know what you think of some of our exciting new ideas!

Until then, I am sending you RE-FRESHment, all the blessings of a safe and healthy New Year, as well as heaps of...

CHGs+P!

BDC NOW: When we brainstormed about the idea of RE-FRESH for this month's eWaves, among other things, Rob and Misa thought about early Spring cleaning. Wth this in mind, we drove to the local do-it-yourself car wash and decided to scrub the BDC sticker on Rob's car! We had fun setting up the camera and tripod inside the car wash...We hope that you enjoy this silly picture and that you will remember to play, even when you are not at camp!  What a RE-FRESHing thing to do...
WH ornament
This perfect ornament hangs on one of the many trees inside the White House in Washington DC. Special thanks to Liz Mahoney who took this photo while she spent the day caroling at the White House during her holiday break with her A cappella group from Holy Cross. Look for themes of RE-FRESH all around you this month...
The Corrral
Does this look like the way you remember it? When we decorate, we RE-FRESH the way we see familiar things.

Special thanks to Christopher Resenfelder, our wonderful building and grounds care taker and general handy-man extraordinaire, for making our campus look so spiffy during the dark days of the winter. For the first time ever and with a truly RE-FRESHing new twist, 3570 Main Street was recognized by the town of Brewster. We were rewarded with a second place finish in the town Business Light competition. Thank you Chris for all of your creative work!
