Boat Show Season in Michigan!

This winter we are headed to three boat shows, right here in Michigan! Boat Shows are a great place to see what's new from the marine industry, talk to knowledgeable professionals, and maybe even dream a little bit. We will be headed to the Grand Rapids Boat Show, later this month. The Show runs from February 18th-22nd at Devos Place on the banks of the Grand River. This marks the 70th year of the Grand Rapids Boat Show and could be the biggest in Grand Rapids history, as other shows across the country have had record attendance numbers, this year. The show will also feature classic wooden boats, performances by show skiers, a robot, and even a waterskiing squirrel! Stop by and see us at our booth! We will also be at the U.P. Boat Show in Marquette from March 20th-22nd and the Traverse City Boat Show from April 10th-12th. Let us know if you are planning on stopping by at one of the shows! |

In the Paint Shop

Our state-of-the-art paint shop has been busy this winter with big jobs on a variety of boats. Recently, the 35-foot Tiara (pictured above) was painted using Awlgrip Medina Green with a fine metal flake and a Vivid Red bootstripe. After extensive training and advances in technology, we are now able to perform large-scale metal flake paint jobs. We use high quality, durable paints from Awlgrip at our facilities. We have painted boats of all sizes, our largest being more than 50 feet long! Let us know if you would like us to work on anything for you before launch. |

Boat of the Month: The Sea Ray 270 Sundeck

The Sea Ray 270 Sundeck is a new model for 2015 and is even more spacious than its predecessors. This is the ideal boat for a day of fun with family on the water or a twilight cruise with all of your friends. An open floor plan and adjustable seating configurations will give you plenty of space to stretch out in all areas of the boat. The swim platform has a special wide step that can be lowered down into the water, allowing easy access to the boat and acting as in-water seat rated for 400 pounds. This bowrider has also been upgraded with many comfort options, as well as a Mercruiser 350 MAG and trim tabs for superior performance on the water. Michigan Lowers Legal Blood Alcohol Content for Boaters

The State of Michigan has lowered the legal BAC limit for operating boats, snowmobiles, or off-road vehicles from .10% to .08%. This limit is now equivalent to the state limit for operating a car. The law also prohibits anyone under the age of 21 from operating a boat with any BAC. Alcohol has been identified as the number one contributing factor in boating fatalities The most recent data from the United States Coast Guard reports there were 92 boating accidents and 21 deaths in 2013 in Michigan, which have steadily decreased over time. Increased education and stricter boating laws are believed to be responsible for these decreases. Life jacket usage and proper boater safety training have been shown to drastically reduce the risk of accident and death. Have fun and be safe on the water this summer! |
