This summer the local sailing was in a class of its own in Northern Michigan. Many local sailors celebrated fantastic results across a range of competitions. In the CYC Race to Mackinac, nosurprise finished 2nd overall and 1st in the J/111 Division. Wind Czar was on their heels and finished 2nd in the J/111 Division and 4th overall in the race. Not to be outdone, To the Moon, a Swan 42 won the Mackinac Cup by finishing 1st overall. The Little Traverse Yacht Club also won the coveted CYC Race to Mackinac Yacht Club Challenge with many great finishes from its members. Wind Czar and nosurprise dueled again in the 2nd annual J/111 North American Championships hosted by the Little Traverse Yacht Club in Harbor Springs. Wind Czar successfully defended their title, while nosurprise finished 2nd. It has been a pleasure watching this friendly rivalry and we hope to see more great racing next summer! To finish the summer, nosurprise won the Quantum Freshwater Cup with great finishes in all 4 qualifying regattas across Northern Michigan. Also, local sailor George "Bear" Peet recently won the Moth North American Championship in San Diego. |

More than 1000 exhibitors from all over the world were on hand for the 55th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Sea Ray unveiled 6 new boats in their line from the spacious 19 SPX to the luxurious L650 Yacht. Boston Whaler also introduced their largest model to date: the 420 Outrage. The 420 Outrage is 5 feet longer than any other Boston Whaler and features a large cabin with two double-berths, superb lighting, a galley, and an enclosed head. Four 300-hp Mercury Verado 4-strokes power this massive center console comfortably through heavy seas. 2015 is going to be an exciting year with many upcoming boat shows all over the country! |
