Bringing Trauma-Informed Services to Women Veterans The National Center is proud to announce that we have been selected to participate in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation's Mental Health & Well-Being initiative which supports innovative programs that address the mental health needs of returning veterans and their families. The National Center will launch a multi-site demonstration project to implement a trauma-informed approach to serving women veterans who are homeless in community-based organizations across Massachusetts. Our project partners include The New England Center for Homeless Veterans in Boston, MA; Veterans, Inc. in Worcester, MA; and Soldier On in Northampton, MA. Free Recordings of 2012 Trainings Available
In 2012, The National Center hosted over 20 new online training sessions on topics ranging from trauma-informed care, developmental needs of young families, assessing and planning services, and involving consumers. Training Opportunity: Navigating Disputes - Assistance for Schools and School Districts
Join t3 (think. teach. transform.) starting January 17 for a five-week, instructor-led online course on navigating disputes with families experiencing homelessness. Lead by trainers Diana Bowman, Christina Endres, and Katie Volk, this course will share lessons learned from homeless education programs in their efforts to resolve conflicts with parents, guardians, and youth. Participants will learn ways to de-escalate conflicts before they become formal disputes, as well as strategies to conduct a dispute process in a fair and objective manner. This training is co-sponsored by The SERVE Center at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) are available.
