Don't let corporate entertaining can be intimidating! Tim Laird, Brown-Forman Corporation's Chief Entertaining Officer, will offer tips for easy entertaining that will ensure you have as much fun as your guests and your event is memorable and successful. Tim will discuss everything from setting the stage, planning tips and ways of taking the stress out of any occasion.  At the conclusion, he will host a book signing where attendees can buy his "That's Entertaining! Cocktails and Appetizers" at cost. This is a "must attend" event for companies who want to raise the bar on employee appreciation events or "wooing" their next big client. 

 
About Tim Laird:
Tim Laird is an authority on wines and spirits with more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. A connoisseur of fine wines, spirits and champagnes, Tim is also a gourmet chef and a master at entertaining and execution. He makes hundreds of appearances a year on radio and television programs and has appeared on The Today Show, The CBS Early Show, Fox & Friends, The Tonight Show; ABC World News Now and the CNN, FOX News and CNBC networks. Tim also hosts three weekly television shows in his home state of Kentucky - Secrets of Bluegrass Chefs, Secrets of Louisville Chefs Live and Secrets of Resort Chefs. He is a featured columnist for Louisville's Food & Dining Magazine, author of the book, That's Entertaining! With Tim Laird, America's C.E.O. - Chief Entertaining Officer and the recently released, That's Entertaining! Cocktails and Appetizers.
 
In his current role as Chief Entertaining Officer of Brown-Forman, a major producer of fine wines and spirits in Louisville, Kentucky, Tim enjoys teaching audiences around the world how to make entertaining fun and easy, and how to make delicious cocktails. In the past, he also worked for Korbel Champagne, E&J Gallo and Stroh's Brewery.
 
Tim is an active volunteer in Louisville serving as a board member for Winston Industries, as an honorary board member for the Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky.

Step Up on National Walking Day
 
The Health and Wellness Committee is challenging everyone to participate in American Heart Association's National Walking Day on April 6.
 
Employers are challenged to encourage jogging-women.jpgtheir employees to wear jeans and tennis shoes and create a 30 minute walk for their team. This 30 minute activity helps create awareness about the importance of being physically active. On this day, millions of people throughout the United States will come together to take those important steps toward a healthier life.

Future Leaders Advisory Group Invites Young Professionals to Kentuckiana's First Regional YP CONNECT
 
As Kentuckiana's first regional networking event for young professionals, the YP CONNECT offers millennials across multiple organizations the opportunity to connect. This event will bring networkers from across the region together to mix, mingle and strengthen our communities on Monday, April 18th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Mayor Greg Fischer will be in attendance from 5:30 - 6:00 to speak about his Compassionate City Plan
 
This event will also included members from the following YP organizations:

  •  Leadership Southern Indiana (LeadershipSI),
  • Young Professional Association of Louisville (YPAL),

Coming Around the Curve!          

The horses are on the move as the 2016 Membership Derby, One Southern Indiana's (1si) membership campaign, continues. The goal of the campaign is to add 100 new members.

Teams are in place but all members are invited to participate. Companies that join between now and April 1st will be eligible for a drawing to win two tickets to the June Pearls of Wisdom program featuring Jill Byrne, Director of Programming and Senior Racing Analyst for Churchill Downs. The event will be held Wednesday, June 8.

In addition, 1si members and Membership Derby team members are being challenged to sign up prospects from out "Hot List"

1si Partnering with Develop New Albany for Next 8 O'clock Network 
              
1si is excited to partner with Develop New Albany for the next 8 O'clock Network, hosted by Strandz Salon and Threadz Boutique, 322 Vincennes St., in New Albany, from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. on April 14th.

The 8 O'clock Network, formerly the Network of Champions, is held the second Thursday of every month. Pre-register by noon April 13 to be entered into a drawing where eight lucky participants will be able to give a 30-second commercial in front of the entire room. In any event, you can expect the opportunity to make new connections and have some fun!

MWBOC MatchMakers Scheduled for April 21st

Registration Now Open for 2016 Golf Scramble

Dust off your golf bag and get your clubs ready; the "2016 Networking on the Green" Golf Scramble will be held on May 20th at Champions Pointe Golf Course in Henryville, Ind. This year's event features two flights, with shotgun starts at 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. Lunch is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and there will be appetizers following the second flight.

Fees are $150 per person or $540 for a foursome, which includes green fee, cart fee, two drink tickets, lunch, and gifts as you round the course. You will also be eligible to participate in free putt in the putting contest sponsored by Centra Credit Union, marshmallow contest sponsored by Park Community Credit Union and hole-in-one contest sponsored by Coyle Chevrolet. There will also be a Beat the Pro and CEO Challenge. Donations are now being accepted for goodie bags and door prizes. Corporate and hole sponsorships are also still available. Indiana Bicentennial Torch Run to Begin in Corydon 

Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb joined Mark image of State of IndianaNewman, executive director of the Indiana Office of Tourism Development to unveil the statewide route of the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay. The state says the route "showcases locations of natural beauty, local interest and historic significance to the state."

The relay will begin in the state's original capital of Corydon on September 9th with the route covering 3,200 miles in each of Indiana's 92 counties. Nearly 2,000 torchbearers will participate in the relay. Click here to read more.
