One Southern Indiana announces 2016 ONE Award winners

One Southern Indiana (1si) announced the winners of its 28th annual ONE Awards, formerly the Southern Indiana Business Awards. The winners received recognition at a dinner held last Thursday, March 17th, at Huber's Orchard, Winery & Vineyard's Plantation Hall. More than 350 attendees celebrated the success of these local and regional businesses.

The program recognized finalists in seven business categories who were showcased in customized videos before representatives of each award's sponsor announced the winners. Ninety percent of the nominees' scores were evaluated by an independent panel of judges based on criteria of business history, community involvement, response to adversity, newly-created opportunities, and innovation in products or services. The last ten percent was decided by online voting through social media.

And They're Off!

The race is on and horses have left the gate for the Membership Derby, 1si's membership campaign. The goal of the campaign is to add 100 new members to the rolls.

Though we're off to a great start, the Derby is still in need of 15 - 18 volunteers. If you are interested in participating in this effort, please contact Danny James at 812.206.9031 or DannyJ@1si.org. Volunteers will be assigned to teams to help recruit new members and compete for fabulous prizes. In addition, each team represents a non-profit organization member. If their team brings in 10 new members, the non-profit member gets a free membership for one year.

The current leader in the race is the LIONS Leads Group representing the Ronald McDonald House with two new members followed by the Ambassadors team representing Hand in Hand Ministries and a team of 1si members representing the American Red Cross, both with 1 new member.

Other non-profit organizations participating include: Communities in Schools of Clark County, Family & Children's Place, Hope Southern Indiana, Lincoln Heritage Council - Boy Scouts of Kentuckiana, Ohio River Greenway Commission and Southeast ISBDC.

The Membership Campaign will conclude on Friday, April 8th, and a victory celebration will be held at the 5 O'clock Network on April 21st, hosted by the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center Louisville North in Clarksville, Ind.

If you would like to donate prizes for either the winning team or to a top individual finisher, contact Sara Rutkowski at Intern2@1si.org.
