Governor Pence Joins Local Officials to Break Ground on Heavy-Haul Road
 
Governor Mike Pence joined Mayors Bob Hall of Charlestown and Mike Moore of Jeffersonville, as well as officials from the River Ridge Commerce Center and the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville on Wednesday, October 14th to break ground on phase one of the multi-phase transportation corridor project, which when completed, will link the River Ridge Commerce Center and the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville. State and local partners will provide funding for the completion of the $30.4 million project to complete the heavy-haul road, ensuring that the region and the state are positioned to maximize opportunities for economic growth surrounding the Ohio River Bridges Project. One Southern Indiana (1si) is seeking professionals in Southern Indiana and Louisville to attend in this year's Business Expo. The event, which is considered Southern Indiana's largest business to business expo, has added features this year that will benefit your business through relationship building, networking, tastings and a silent auction.
With a sports theme aptly named "Welcome To The Big Leagues," this event draws more than 100 exhibitors and 500 attendees to an exciting, interactive trade show floor that offers all who participate the opportunity to expand beneficial relationships with other Southern Indiana and Louisville businesses.

Teachers Credit Union Celebrates New Location
 
Teachers Credit Union (TCU) celebrated the opening of their new location at 3308 Grant Line Road in New Albany on Monday, October 19th with a ribbon cutting hosted by 1si. The event was attended by State Representative Ed Clere, Director for Economic Development for the City of New Albany, Dave Duggins, 1si staff and Ambassadors. The Indiana Regional Cities Initiative:  A Look Inside
 
This week we are looking at the East Central Indiana Regional Development Authority and their plan "ADVANCE" which covers the counties of Blackford, Delaware, Henry, Jay, Madison and Randolph counties.
 
The ADVANCE East Central Indiana Plan puts forth a series of initiatives and projects that address the five core challenges facing the region:
  •  Demographics
  •  Real Estate Value
  •  Talent Attraction
  •  Industry Value Capture
  •  New Business Starts

In order to address these issues, ADVANCE is asking for funding to support many projects; some of the largest being:
  • The Innovation Center;
  • Cintas Maker's Hub;
  • White River Canal District;
  • 1400 Plaza;
  • The Wigwam Project; and
  • The Muncie Arts & Culture Trail.
