The Empowering Education Series is held every other month. This month's speaker will be Jenny Milby of Integrity HR. They will be discussing "Managing Employee Performance."
Ms. Milby will discuss how to create an evaluation process for employees that isn't just done once a year but throughout the year. She will also discuss how to intergrate professional development opportunities.
Milby is a Human Resources Consultant for Integrity HR, Inc., a human resource consulting and outsourcing firm in Louisville, Kentucky. In her role, Jenny provides human resources support to clients and consultants. She has worked in a generalist capacity for more than 20 years in a non-profit/call center environment, and understands the importance of partnering with those whom she supports.
She has served on the board of the Southern Indiana Society of Human Resources as President-elect, President, Past President, and currently as the Secretary. She also served as Chairperson of the Southern Indiana Human Resource Council. Jenny is also a member of the National Society for Human Resource Management. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Resources from Ottawa University.

Over 500 Students Visit Regional Manufacturers
October 2, 2015 was National Manufacturing Day. In honor of this national event, manufacturers and educators from Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Scott counties joined forces to educate youth, and the public at large, about the many career options available in this important sector of the economy. The celebration kicked off on Wednesday, September 30th with students touring regional manufacturing facilities. Click here to read more about Manufacturing Day.

Friday is the Last Day to Register for Churchill Downs Event
1si is partnering with the Chamber of St. Matthews for Fall Day at the Races from 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m., November 5th, on Millionaires Row at historic Churchill Downs. Seating is available individually and in tables of 8. Tickets include admission, lunch, programs, and there will be second chance games available for all attending. Individual Tickets are $55 and a table of eight is $440.
Registration deadline is October 9th and there is a limit of 200 seats so please hurry and register today!

Network of Champions is a popular monthly event which allows members and guests to network in a variety of ways. Over 50 individuals typically attend and enjoy quality networking opportunities which lead to results and collaborations. Congratulations to 1si Board Member on New Position

Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services has named a new CEO. The New Albany-based hospital's new leader is long-time primary care physician, Dr. Daniel J. Eichenberger, who had been serving as interim CEO since March. He was made the hospital's permanent CEO in a unanimous board of trustees vote on September 29th, according to a news release. The Indiana Regional Cities Initiative: A Look Inside
This week we take a look at the Northwest Indiana RDA, anchored by the cities of Gary and Michigan City.
This is a $270 million eight year project that is  centered around the commuter rail lines that run through the area and is being supported through an active inter-regional collaboration of the Northwest Indiana RDA, and LaPorte County. There are four phases to the project, with the line traversing through Lake, Porter, LaPorte, & St. Joseph counties, and serving all of the cities and towns within those regions.
