Manufacturers and Educators Come Together to Inform the Public about Regional Advanced Manufacturing

1si's monthly 5 O'clock Network replaced by the MMA MFG Day Celebration on Thursday, October 1. Please plan accordingly.

MMA MFG Day Celebration hosted by Harding, Shymanski & Company, P.S.C. Click here to register.

National Manufacturing Day is October 2, 2015. More than 12 percent of the employed adults in Clark County and 14 percent in Floyd County are employed by the manufacturing industry. Throughout the state, manufacturing accounts for approximately 25 percent of the state's economy. Manufacturing is important to all Hoosiers.

That is why One Southern Indiana's (1si) Metro Manufacturing Alliance is partnering with Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, WorkOne Southern Indiana, local companies and other partners to celebrate National Manufacturing Day on September 30, October 1 and October 2, 2015. Southern Indiana manufacturers are supporting these events as a way to inform and involve the public in learning about this important sector of the economy.

Manufacturing Day is an occasion for participating manufacturers to speak directly to their local communities, particularly young adults looking for viable career options. To see a list ofregional manufacturing events click here. To learn more about Manfucaturing Day visit www.mfgday.com. For more information on this region's events contact Kathleen Crowley at KathleenC@1si.org

Today we review Innovate Indiana, the Northern Indiana (South Bend, Ind.) proposal for consideration as an Indiana Regional City.

Notre Dame is partnering with the business community and local government to capitalize on the innovation capacity being developed both on and off campus.  In addition to developing new sources of economic growth and innovation to firmly establish this region as a nationally recognized attractive place to live and work, Innovate Indiana will highlight its region as an economic powerhouse that provides a strong quality of place to attract and retain future generations of Hoosiers, both residents growing up in the region and the students that move here to obtain a world-class education.
