Seven Downtown New Albany Businesses Receive a Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County Small Business Revolving Loan Fund in 2014-2015
 
1si is proud to partner with the Horseshoe Foundation, the Southeast Indiana Small Business Development Center and others to be the administrator of the Small Business Revolving Loan Fund. This year the Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) was prolific, loaning $287,800 to small business owners for expansion efforts and equipment. The recipients varied and included three restaurants, a bed and breakfast, a natural market and deli, a tailoring and custom clothing shop and a court reporting service. Click here to read more.

LifeSpring Community Medical Services Celebrates Opening

 

 

LifeSpring Community Medical Services celebrated National Health Center Week with a ribbon cutting at their Integrated Treatment Center at 1036 Sharon Dr. in Jeffersonville on August 13th. Community Medical Services, part of the LifeSpring Health Systems, was recently granted the designation of "Federally Qualified Health Center" (FQHC) from the US Department of Health and Human Services. This designation allows LifeSpring Community Medical Services to provide mental health, primary care and substance abuse services to meet the area's growing demands, regardless of a person's ability to pay. Community Montessori Opens Nurtury
  The Community Nurtury, an educational program in the comfort of a warm and cozy environment on the campus of Community Montessori School, held a grand opening with a ribbon cutting at their location at 4102 St. Joseph Road in New Albany on August 14th. The Community Nurtury opened to the public on August 3rd, and caters to children ranging from infant to three years of age. This new program is inspired by the Resources for Infant Educarers(RIE) program, as well as the Montessori Method of learning. Click here to read more.
 
5 O'clock Network at First Harrison Bank This Thursday!       
 
You know summer is over when the highly anticipated 5 O'clock Network is back! This networking event, hosted by First Harrison Bank, will be catered by Sam's Food and Spirits and Starlight Coffee, conveniently located in the lobby of First Harrison Bank, will honor drink tickets. Door prizes will be drawn every thirty minutes.

Ingrid Hernández to Speak at Pearls of Wisdom                    
 
Have you ever admired a successful business woman and wondered how she made it to the top? Join us on  September 16th when our featured speaker Ingrid Hernández, President of InGrid Design, will share her "pearls of wisdom." 
 
InGrid Design is a bilingual communications agency with a staff of 13 specializing in national marketing campaigns, advertising and graphic design, web development, photography and video/animation services. Some of their more recognized work include the bilingual benefit materials created for Yum! Brands' employees nationwide and the annual marketing campaign developed for Girl Scout Cookies targeting girls, volunteers, families, councils and their sales team, helping them increase national sales and market share.
 
Ingrid is the winner of NAWBO's 2012 EPIC Award, GLI's 2011 Emerging Minority Business Award, GLI's 2012 Sloan Award for offering work flexibility to her employees, LGDA 100 Awards in 2011 for outstanding design and was a finalist for several years for GLI's Inc.Credible Awards.  Ingrid Design has also been recognized by Business First as a FAST 50 growing company two years in a row, one of the top Advertising Agencies in Louisville, as a Philanthropy Award winner and Ingrid was a finalist for the Business Leader of the Year Award in 2012.

American Pickers to film in Indiana
One Southern Indiana is excited to welcome Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz and Antique Archeology to the area. The team will film episodes of their hit series AMERICAN PICKERS throughout the state of Indiana. Filming is scheduled for September.

Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Conference Names 1si as Honoree
 
1si was recognized as an Honoree in the category of Member Retention for the 2014-2015 Fiscal Year. 1si scored in the nation's top 10 in total revenue range in one or more of the following categories: membership retention, new member dollars, or new members. These statistics were compiled from ACCE's Fiscal Year 2014 Operations Survey via Dynamic Chamber Benchmarking (DCB).
Wendy Dant Chesser recognized by Duke Energy
Wendy Dant Chesser was recognized by Duke Energy as the Duke Energy Difference Maker during the Indianapolis Indians game vs. the Durham Bulls on Saturday. The Indians won 3-2.
