Last fall, One Southern Indiana (1si) endorsed Kiva Zip as an innovative new solution to small business financing in Southern Indiana, and we wanted to take a moment to tell you more about this economic development opportunity. Kiva Zip is an online platform where entrepreneurs can get business loans up to $10,000 at 0% interest through person-to-person lending. Our Southern Indiana

Indiana Officials Answer Questions about Regional Cities Initiatives

On Monday afternoon, over 50 members of the public joined public officials to hear from 1si president and CEO Wendy Dant Chesser, Indiana Secretary of Commerce Victor Smith and Indiana Economic Development Corporation Policy Director Eric Shields. They shared detailed information about the Regional Cities Initiative and Our Southern Indiana's work as it prepares its submission to this new program. House Co-Sponsor, Senator Ron Grooms and House Co-Author, State Representative, Ed Clere were also present to lend support to the program and Our Southern Indiana's efforts. The entire session will be available for viewing on the Our Southern Indiana website, facebook page and twitter feed by 5 p.m. this evening. Registration for Annual Meeting Now Open

Join us for the 2015 Annual Meeting on August 18 at Northside Christian Church. This 1si Signature Event draws a crowd of over 400 people. The annual meeting will feature a wrap up of the previous year, a look for the future and a presentation of awards for Chairperson of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, Economic Development Partner of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Non-Profit of the Year. Fabtration Announces Expansion in Floyd County

1si is pleased to announce Fabtration, LLC, owner Rick Keenan appeared before the Floyd County Council and outlined his proposed plan for a building expansion and investment in new manufacturing equipment. The company requested and was granted a 10-year personal property tax abatement, allowing it to phase-in personal property taxes on its equipment investment of $813,000.Fabtration, LLC, makers of filtration systems and electrical and thermal energy units, was founded in 2011 in Georgetown, Ind. The company currently has 11 employees and has plans to add 16 additional employees by the end of 2019.

The expo is Southern Indiana's largest Business to Business Expo with over 100 booths, over 500 attendees and a silent auction featuring a variety of items donated by area businesses. In addition, this year's event will feature a photo booth by Photolicious. Gold sponsorships are $2,000 and silver sponsorships are $1,000. Both come with a booth and lots of advertising on flyers, banners and more.

East End Bridge Crossing Open House to Preview

New SR 265/SR 62/Port Road Interchange

Drivers are invited to learn more about the new State Road 265/SR 62/Port Road interchange at an open house on Thursday, July 23, at Utica Elementary School. The new interchange, which includes three modified roundabouts, is expected to open to traffic in late July or early August. The open house, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., will offer residents a chance to view multiple displays, see examples of roundabout signage and ask questions of officials from the Indiana Department of Transportation and WVB East End Partners, the developer responsible for construction of the Ohio River Bridges East End Crossing.
