Victor Smith, Indiana Secretary of Commerce, will be the featured speaker at a workshop this month for elected officials regarding the Indiana Regional Cities Initiative.  The workshop will provide detailed information about the state funded Initiative and Our Southern Indiana's work as it prepares its submission to this new program.  Other speakers will include House Co-Sponsor, Senator Ron Grooms and House Co-Author, State Representative District 72 Ed Clere.

1si Collaborates with Partners on Workforce Issues
 

In a continuing effort to address workforce issues, 1si will hold a seminar in coordination with the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL), the University of Indianapolis and the Indiana Works Council regarding regional collaboration and a common approach and disciplined stakeholder engagement process called Building Collective Capacity. This process explores and encourages the exchange of ideas used by communities across the country through the practice of collaboration and creating collective impact. The process will help 1si staff members understand our capacity to address workforce development issues and the benefits for our region.

  
Network of Champions                  

Make your business the center of attention at Thursday's Network of women networkingChampions hosted by Cobblestone Hotel & Suites. Set in a professional environment, the Network of Champions has a rotating format. July's event is the "Roundtable" and gives you a chance to share  your business with a table of 7. Each attendee will receive two minutes. Bring plenty of business cards.

REMAX Advantage Breaks Ground
 

One Southern Indiana (1si) announced Thursday,  that RE/MAX Advantage franchise owner and broker Linda Finney, will begin construction of an 8,222-square-foot, $1.4 million building at 300 LaFollette Station Drive South in Floyds Knobs, Ind. The project was announced during the groundbreaking ceremony. Currently, RE/MAX Advantage has 26 agents at their 708 Highlander Point location. This expansion will allow RE/MAX Advantage to host a training area for new agents, as well as include leasable space for the offices of professional services companies. Click here to read more 

State Farm Relocates
 
State Farm agent, Theresa Lamb
celebrated the opening of her new location with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony Friday at 1523 State Street in New Albany. The event was attended by State Representative Ed Clere, 1si staff and Ambassadors; and the public. The company employs three full-time and three part-time staff members in their 4,000 square foot facility.

1si is partnering with the News and Tribune to print this year's annual report to the community titled "2014-2015 Year in Review".  This report will image of newspaperhighlight the accomplishments and milestones of the organization as well as honoring our member volunteers.

"Non-Profit of the Year" applications now being accepted                 
1si is accepting applications for their first Non-Profit of the Year Award to be presented at our Annual Meeting on August 18, 2015 at Northside Christian Church. Interested non-profits must complete an application, be a 501c(3) and provide documentation to prove their status. Educational institutions and charitable funding sources are not eligible for the award. 
Future Leaders Advisory Group Mentoring Program now taking applications                   
The 1si Mentoring Program allows young professionals to be paired with a seasoned professional /community leader for a 6 month program. The pairing process will begin on July 16th with a Speed Networking event and will conclude on December 3rd. This is also a great opportunity for mentors to learn, expand, and visit new ideas through communication with mentees in the Southern Indiana and Louisville communities. If interested in being either a mentee or mentor, click here to apply.

CBIN Announces Upcoming Changes
Community Bank Shares of Indiana, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBIN), the holding company for Your Community Bank and The Scott County State Bank, image of Your Community Bank logo announced today that it has officially changed the name of the company to Your Community Bankshares, Inc. In conjunction with the corporate name change, the company will change the ticker symbol listed on NASDAQ from "CBIN" to "YCB" effective July 1, 2015.
