Our Southern Indiana
On Monday evening, the Harrison County Council unanimously approved a resolution in support of the Regional Cities Initiative and will formally take part in discussions to create a Regional Development Authority (RDA). The RDA is the only entity eligible to apply for the Regional Cities designation.
Because the RDA entity is a new concept, Wendy Dant Chesser and several Our Southern Indiana supporters including Doug York with Rodefer Moss & Co., Jeff and Mark Shireman of Shireman Construction, Darrell Voelker of the Harrison County Economic Development Corporation, Lisa Long from the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce, River Hills Economic Development District RPC's Jill Saegesser and Ken Rush of IMI Sellersburg Stone, spent an hour with council members answering questions and addressing concerns, including the council's agreeing to the resolution did not financially obligate the county in any way. Our Southern Indiana members are also planning to present the resolution to the Councils of Floyd, Jefferson and Scott Counties in the near future.
