On June 2nd, the Washington County Council approved a resolution endorsing the Regional Cities Initiative and agreed to be involved in future discussions, which include the formation of a Regional Development Authority.

Plans to appeal to other county councils including Floyd and Scott Counties are in the works.

Inside Indiana Business, a regional television series focusing on business and economic development throughout the state, recently spent time in Jeffersonville highlighting the expansive growth in the region and talking to officials about the future of Southern Indiana. If you would like to see the show in its entirety, this episode will air again on Wednesday morning, June 17th at 6 AM on Indiana Channel 9 (WNDA).

Bulgarian Entrepreneur Opens in New Albany
        
J. Jewelers, formerly Jefferson Jewelers, celebrated its new location in New Albany last Wednesday, June 10, with a ribbon cutting hosted by One Southern Indiana (1si). J. Jewelers offers many services, including: jewelry and watch repair; the purchase and trade of unwanted gold; assistance in ordering custom designs including engagement and bridal options; and certified jewelry appraisals for insurance purposes.

Future Leaders Advisory Group Mentoring Program now taking applications                   
This program allows for young professionals to be paired with a seasoned professional /community leader for a 6 month program. The pairing process will begin on July 16th with a Speed Networking event and will conclude on December 3rd. This is also a great opportunity for mentors to learn, expand, and visit new ideas through communication with mentees in the Southern Indiana and Louisville communities. If interested in being either a mentee or mentor, click here to apply.
