Register today for the 2015 Networking on the Greens

Dust off your golf bag and get your clubs ready; the "2015 Networking on the Greens" Golf Scramble will be held on May 15 at Champions Pointe Golf Course in Henryville. This year's event features two flights with shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Lunch is between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and appetizers will follow the second flight.  Click here to register online.

 

Fees are $150 per person or $540 for a foursome, which includes green fee, cart fee, two drink tickets, lunch, free putt in the putting contest sponsored by Centra Credit Union and marshmallow contest sponsored by Park Community Credit Union and gifts as you round the course. There will also be a Beat the Pro, CEO Challenge and Hole-in-One contest to win a 2015 Jeep Wrangler.

Our Southern Indiana 
 

Many throughout the state are anxiously waiting on the final funding decision for the Indiana Regional Cities Initiative.  Current funding for the project has been reduced from the original proposal of $84 million to $20 million over two years.  The final decision will be made by Wednesday, April 29. when the Legislature, by law, must adjourn.  For up to the minute developments, be sure to visit Our Southern Indiana on Facebook and Follow along on Twitter.

Make Your Voices Heard in Washington

As the economic development of communities continues to go global, it is important that the voice of the Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana region be heard when it comes to national issues that directly and indirectly affect this part of the country.

 

As some of you are aware, Greater Louisville Inc. is bringing back its federal advocacy program this year with the reinstatement of the DC Fly-In. This year's two-day event will be held May 13th and 14th and GLI has reached out to us to see if 1si would be interested in partnering with them for this event.

Southern Indiana Night at the Bats

Join fellow 1si members and staff for a Southern Indiana Night at the Bats on Friday, June 12. Game starts at 7:05.

 

The evening features post game fireworks, special in-game giveaways and other promotions throughout the game. Cheer on Park Community Credit Union's Tyler Mattingly as he throws the first pitch. Nonprofit Spotlight

The Nonprofit Spotlight for April is Ohio River Greenway Commission.

 

The Ohio River Greenway is a continuous 7.5-mile recreational corridor along the Ohio River in Jeffersonville, Clarksville, and New Albany in Floyd and Clark counties that was established in 1993. The multi-use paths within the Ohio River Greenway are utilized for recreation, non-motorized transportation, and the enjoyment of all walkers, joggers, in-line skaters, and bicyclists. The Ohio River Greenway will attract and greet visitors, provide navigational information, and improve the visitor experience. Their focus is on Planning/Building and Advocating for the Ohio River Greenway.

Family & Children's Place opens office in Jeffersonville

Family & Children's Place opened the doors to their new office at 100 W. Court Ave. in Jeffersonville. 1si representatives and Ambassadors, Mayor Mike Moore and other Southern Indiana elected officials joined the Family & Children's Place staff and Ambassadors in commemorating their new office!


New Awards Program Added to Annual MWBOC

 

The 1si Minority & Women Business Owners' Conference (MWBOC) is proud to announce the addition of three awards to their annual conference, which takes place on June 3 this year at the Clarion Hotel Conference Center Louisville North.  There will be two categories of the 1si MWBOC Diversity Champion Award, based on employee count, which will recognize businesses who have demonstrated outstanding dedication toward ensuring all people live and work in an environment of equality, respect and fairness.  The Diversity Excellence Award will recognize an excellent disadvantaged, minority owned, woman owned, veteran owned and/or disabled veteran owned business. The award winners will be announced at the conference luncheon.

 

Self-nominations are excepted.  Nominees will be asked to answer seven questions in no more than a total of two pages.  To be considered for the awards, nominees must live or work in the following counties:

    • Clark
    • Floyd
    • Harrison
    • Scott
    • Washington
  • In Kentucky
    • Jefferson
