Our Southern Indiana - The Regional Cities Initiative Update

Now that the visioning sessions have taken place, BNIM and their partners are busy condensing the information gathered into an easy-to-use format for the "Our Southern Indiana" task force.  The committee anticipates having that report by the first week of May, after which they will begin to develop a finance and implementation plan, which will include specific projects.

If you were unable to attend one of the two visioning sessions, we still want your opinion!  Record your thoughts and ideas for transformational projects at the Our Southern Indiana website:  http://oursouthernindiana.com/

The funding for the Regional Cities Initiative continues to struggle through the legislature.  Legislators won't have floor votes scheduled for the next few days, so now is the perfect time to reach your senator or representative on the phone. Give the Senate a call at 317-232-9400 and the House of Representatives at 317-232-9600. They'll transfer you to speak with your legislator. And even if he or she is not available, remember to leave a message discussing why you support investment in our state's quality of place.

"We want more parks!"

While we are not giving up on state funding, we also know that we must continue with the project regardless of that final decision.  The completion of a community development plan that includes both Clark and Floyd Counties, as well as contiguous counties, is monumental in the push to create a regional road to success.

Please take a minute to check out the Our Southern Indiana website and join the Our Southern Indiana group on Facebook.  The importance of your support can not be understated.  You can help Our Southern Indiana be the best Southern Indiana it can be.

Make Your Voices Heard in Washington

As the economic development of communities continues to go global, it is important that the voice of the Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana region be heard when it comes to national issues that directly and indirectly affect this part of the country.

As some of you are aware, Greater Louisville Inc. is bringing back its federal advocacy program this year with the reinstatement of the DC Fly-In. This year's two-day event will be held May 13th and 14th and GLI has reached out to us to see if 1si would be interested in partnering with them for this event.
