One Southern Indiana is proud to announce the "One" Awards, the new face of the Southern Indiana Business Awards. The update of the brand coincides with the creation of a new category, the Growing Healthy Lives Award, which recognizes employers that have gone above and beyond expectations in the areas of employee health and wellness.

February Network of Champions
Network of Champions is a popular monthly event which allows members and guests to network in a variety of ways. Over 50 individuals typically attend and enjoy quality networking opportunities which lead to results and collaborations. Attendees receive a monthly educational tip on how to make connections effectively and efficiently, making Network of Champions the perfect venue to brush up on your people skills and practice your "elevator speech."
Set in a professional environment, the Network of Champions has a rotating format. February's event will ask guests to stand and give a "30 Second Briefing" or synopsis of your business in front of the room.

Strothman and Company honors merger with ribbon cutting

Louisville CPA firm, Strothman & Company, recently merged with Southern Indiana firm Logsdon & Co. Bill Meyer, Managing Partner and Ray Strothman, Founding Partner of Strothman & Company (with Scissors) and Pat Logsdon, partners, celebrated the merge during a ribbon cutting ceremony at their new location at 290 Missouri Avenue, Jeffersonville. Strothman and Company was founded over 30 years ago and is the fifth largest Kentucky-owned CPA firm.

New downtown bridge to open ahead of schedule
More extensive improvements will extend life of Kennedy Bridge
Motorists will be driving on Louisville's new downtown bridge within a year - at least three months ahead of schedule.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is accelerating construction of the bridge, part of the Downtown Crossing of the Ohio River Bridges Project, to allow for more extensive improvements that will extend the life of the 51-year-old John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge.

Regional Cities Initiative Update
Authorization for Regional Cities Introduced in State House
House Bill 1403, which would enable the state of Indiana to invest in regions that develop compelling strategic plans, thus leveraging significant investment that transforms Indiana communities into destinations for talent, is making its way through the state house. Indiana Representatives Gerald Torr and Ed Clere are sponsoring the bill which has been referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means.
The bill creates the Indiana Regional City Fund, which will be administered by Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) and includes criteria for the IEDC board to consider when reviewing applications. Some of the criteria for selecting regional cities would include:
