 Kick off for "Smaller Waists for a Better Workplace" competition is tomorrow! Is your team signed up? Get fit in a fun way by signing up your team for "Smaller Waists for a Better Workplace," a contest for teams to lose weight, become healthier and compete for a variety of prizes. The competition is open to anyone (members and non-members alike). Teams must have five members that include both men and women. Each team will weigh-in as a team at the kickoff event on Wednesday, January 21st and again at the wrap-up event on Wednesday, March 4th. The weigh-in will be done by confidential medical professionals. The team with the highest percentage of weight loss, as a whole, will be the winner. The kick-off and wrap-up events will take place at Christian Academy of Indiana at 1000 Academy Drive in New Albany. Teams must weigh in between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to be eligible for the competition. Teams will be competing for prizes for most weight lost and most enthusiasm / team spirit. The event will also feature booths providing health tips and information, samples of healthy foods, and discounts on a variety of weight loss aids and screenings. Registration for the contest is $10 per person. Teams are encourage to create a team name. So talk to your neighbors, your co-workers and your friends and form a team now! Deadline for Business Awards applications is this Friday!
The deadline to apply for a 2015 Business Award is Friday, January 23 at 5:00 PM. If you would your application reviewed by the Business Awards Committee prior to judging, please contact Josh Suiter by Wednesday, January 21.
The 2015 Business Awards is set for Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Huber's Plantation Hall. For more information about the event or application, please contact Josh Suiter.

Bill Lamb to speak at first Empowering Education Series
The first program in 1si's Empowering Education Series will be held February 10 and will feature Bill Lamb, President and General Manager of WDRB in Louisville who will be speaking on leadership. The Empowering Education Series, sponsored by JA Benefits, will include various programs focusing on professional development and leadership skills.  1si's non-profit spotlight for January is Lincoln Heritage Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Lincoln Heritage Council, Boy Scouts of America serves over 36,000 youth through exciting, educational programs that builds character while teaching life skills in a fun environment. The program is in 64 counties between Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Illinois. The "Louisville Area Council" was established in 1912. Read more

Kellco Precision Machine & Tool, Inc. to relocate and expand to Floyd County Kellco Precision Machine & Tool, Inc., an owner-operated precision machine shop in Louisville, Ky., prepares to relocate and expand after receiving approval for incentives from the Floyd County Council. The company will be relocating to Georgetown, Indiana.
Due to an anticipated 30 percent to 50 percent increase in orders over the next three years, company President and Owner Scott Patterson decided to build Kellco Precision Machine & Tool, Inc.'s new 15,000-square-foot facility on Floyd County property he had previously purchased. Read more

Regional Cities Initiative Update
Southern Indiana Regional Cities Initiative Task Force interviews Urban Planning Groups
Task Force Members of the Southern Indiana Regional Cities Initiative and One Southern Indiana (1si) staff members met with representatives from three of the best planning and advisory firms addressing urban, regional and economic development matters as rated by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC). The firms were chosen as the top three contenders by a team of task force members who judged all the proposals sent to 1si.
Final negotiations are now taking place and a recommendation to the full steering committee is expected this week. Once a firm is chosen and the contract is complete, work will begin in the region identifying possible projects and soliciting public feedback. Stay tuned for public and community input sessions to be announced in the One Weekly.

- Contact 1si to add your name to the participants list.
Deadline to reserve your space is January 23rd.
- Design an advertisement as an 8 1/2 X 11 or smaller insert and print on a text weight stock.
- Deliver 1,700 inserts to L & D Mail Masters by February 2nd and we will take care of the postage and processing costs.
The Member2Member Mailer package is delivered monthly and arrives about mid-month. Cost to participate: $250/month.
