Did you know?
During my recent trip to Europe to visit our son for Thanksgiving, many people shared their gratitude for the USA and made my family feel more than welcomed in their country.  Before I left the states however, I didn't realize just how much I had allowed the media to shape my negative impression of what other country's think of us today.  Although there will always be real stories of bad things that happened that we should all learn from, there seems to be a growing number of stories, partially told truths and fabrications used by a few people with an intent to shame the US. Our history with Europe is amazing however, and shows just how much America has desired to share our wealth.

One such example came after
World War II, when Europe was plagued by poverty, unemployment, and economic instability. In 1947, Secretary of State George Marshall pushed for a massive aid plan to rebuild Europe and restore its economy. This resulted in the creation of the European Union (EU). In March 1948, the U.S. CONGRESS passed the European Recovery Act, which was signed into law by President Harry Truman on April 3, 1948. This act authorized the US to spend more than $12 BILLION DOLLARS over a period of four years to 16 European countries which lead to the recovery of their economies. With such significant support, the U.S. not only helped Europe get back on its feet, but it also laid the foundation for a strong and enduring transatlantic alliance. It's the EU that continues to successfully provide the backbone of their clean water system today.

Finding value in America is what American's MUST do if we are to preserve our nation and its clean water for us and our children. Being a proud American comes from working hard at being grateful for the United States of America.  Read about our amazing country.  Learn and be proactive with your knowledge of America's greatness. Don't forget there are millions of people living overseas that would gladly trade places with you.
