AARP and Fremont Township will be hosting a defensive driving class for drivers 55 and older which will be held on Thursday May 14 and Friday May 15, 2015 from 9 am to 1 pm. You must attend both classes. Please call 847 223-2847 to register. Class size is limited to 25. Cost is $15.00 if you are an AARP member. $20.00 for non-AARP member.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month is in April
|
You may start seeing posters of blue kids popping up. Every year I receive questions of what the posters are about. This is a program called The Blue Kid Program that helps raise awareness of child abuse prevention in your community. Click here for more information

March at the Regent Center in Mundelein
|
Residents 55 and older should check out the events at the Mundelein Regent Center. In March they have an AARP driving class, and classes include line dancing, excercise, ballroom dancing, cards and more. For the March schedule click here

Mundelein Farmers Market has Moved
|
The Mundelein Framer's Market has negotiated the lease of a new location. This summer the Farmer's Market will be located on north end of Santa Maria Church parking lot on highway 45 between Crystal and Courtland. There will be a limited number of 20' x 20' spaces available. The hours will be 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Fridays from June 19 to October 9 with no market on July 3 and Septemeber 4. There is no electrical capacity at this location but they will allow small generators if needed. There will be a porta-a-potty on site which will be handicapped accessible. When the church is not using the south end of the parking lot there will be 60 paved parking spaces for vendor and customer parking. Join MHS Superintendent for Coffee
|
During the next three months, Dr. Kevin Myers, Mundelein High School superintendent, will be available to share coffee and conversation with members of the District 120 community. Residents are invited to stop by and speak with the Mundelein High School leader and share thoughts, ideas and a cup of coffee. The dates and locations will be:
Wednesday, March 11, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Omega Restaurant in Mundelein; Thursday, April 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the superintendent's office at MHS; and Wednesday, May 6, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at McDonald's at Route 83 and Midlothian.

2015 Low Cost Pet Vaccination Clinic Schedule |
Low-cost pet vaccination clinics provide a convenient and affordable way to keep pets up to date with their shots and rabies tags. Pets are taken on a first come first served basis. All animals brought to a clinic must be at least four months old. Dogs must be leashed and cats placed in carriers. Only cash will be accepted on site. For more information, call: 847.377.4700. If you are on a well have you tested your water?

Do you have a private well? Between March 2 and 12, 2015, the Health Department is offering a reduced rate for well water testing for private well owners. During this time, the normal $16.00 analysis fee for testing for bacteria and nitrates will be reduced to $10.00. Sterile test bottles and sampling instructions are available at Fremont Township. If you are picking up a test bottle call us at 847 223-2847 before you come to make sure we haven't run out.
The Health Department will have an Open House on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Lake County Central Permit Facility, 500 W. Winchester Road in Libertyville. Experts will be on hand to answer questions about wells, why well water may have a funny taste or smell, where well water comes from and where it goes and what tests are necessary to ensure that it is safe to drink. Other health professionals will also be present to provide information on food safety, septic systems, solid waste disposal, lakes and laboratory services.

Members of the Libertyville-Mundelein Community Associates of the
Art Institute will experience a day of Ukrainian culture and cuisine on
Chicago's West Side. They begin with a guided tour of St. Nicholas Cathedral, built in 1915, with its thirteen domes, golden chandelier, and brilliant frescoes. Next on the agenda is the SS. Volodymyr and Ohla Church with its icons and famous mosaic. Lunch will be served at the Ukrainian Cultural Center, followed by a visit to the Ukrainian National Museum.

Date: 3/18/2015 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 pmHistorical dramatist Lynn Rymarz portrays Mary Surratt, the first woman to be executed by the government for her alleged role in the conspiracy to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln. Hear about her life as a loving mother, widow, and landlord, and of her involvement with John Wilkes Booth. She proclaimed her innocence until the very end: "I should not have died on July 7, 1865. Mundelein High School AP Government students will be hosting a candidate forum for Mundelein Village Trustee Candidates on March 31st in the MHS Theater at 7pm. Open to the public.
