Public health officials have been investigating a cluster of measles cases associated with a day care center in suburban Cook County. While these measles cases seem to be focused on the northwest suburban Cook County region, any Lake County resident who is unvaccinated and experiences symptoms of a high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes or conjunctivitis, and a rash should call their healthcare provider and the Lake County Health Department at 847 377-8000. Postcard Art Competition
I bet you didn't know The Lake County Discovery Museum's Curt Teich Postcard Archives contains the world's largest public collection of picture postcards and related materials, with catalogued images dating from 1893 to 1978 that relate to over 10,000 towns and cities in North America and more than 90 foreign countries. I recently visited with a resident donating postcards to the museum and found out about this contest.  Please pass the information along.

The Curt Teich Postcard Archives at the Lake County Discovery Museum in Wauconda is pleased to announce a call for entries for the 10th Postcard Art Competition and Exhibition (PACE). The juried competition celebrates the postcard as an art form, and challenges artists, age 18 and over, to create original works of art in 4-by-6-inch postcard size. More Information

Recycle towels, sheets, blankets, eye glasses, shoes
If you have used towels, sheets or blankets that need to be recycled, please consider bringing them to Fremont Township at 22385 Rt 60, Mundelein to be donated to local Animal Shelters and Rescues.  Please drop them in the bin on the front porch. This keeps them out of the landfill and puts them to good use.

We also accept eye glasses and shoes to be recycled year round.  If you are disposing of shoes that have laces, please tie the laces together.
